By trial. I was able to damage/destroy 2 enemy tanks lined up one behind the other, with the front being a Titan/Vulcan and his little pipsqueak pet Wasp/Isida hiding behind him. Try it.

Were all 3 of you in a straight line?

You may have been firing side-on.

As far as I know, only freeze has penetration power, not firebird.

Straight line. The Isida was going on the premise that my Firebird could not reach him behind the bulk of the Titan, both were destroyed at the same time. Yes, that surprised me, but it feels like the old Firebird is back.

Gotta use what i own :P

Still,seriously,is it good,or a terrible idea?

Well, I've seen Mammoth Firebirds top their team in no supplies Polygon, so fire - dictator is definitely not a terrible idea.

Penetration is definitely back.

I kept on being able to do combo kills

Definitely agree on this.

I was playing isida today hiding in tunnel with a firebird in front of me, and then an enemy fire attacking him managed to heat up my tank and destroy me, even though I was hiding directly behind my teammate.

He had the m2 alteration too..

No, I don't think I play with colonels anymore.

Players in my battles are mostly brigadiers and up.

But in high ranks almost everyone playing in small maps has fire protection, so it is not that deadly.

Yeah, everyone in your rank range and higher has Fire/Thunder protection on most of the time. So frustrating.....

A good portion of those are Vulcan users, to reduce the self heating affects.

What if firebird is made the only turret which can fire and damage also when lying upside down...one of the major disadvantages of firebird is that it can not get itself back on track by using its recoil...but the importance of firebird in the game would improve as when lying upside down it has the greatest importace...and also would be used widely during goldbox drops as it lyes upside down it can damage other tanks...we can see the napalm if we press spacebar while lying upside down...what if the developers add damage to it.

Firebird already damages other tanks while flipped. (Flipped tanks, it damages flipped tanks while flipped) :P

I officially announce that firebird compact tank alteration is absolutely rubbish in DMs as more than 50% of your kills will be stolen

yeah it relies on burn damage over time.

its best for no supply poly CP when you can get to the point and heat everyone up for them to die over time. even if ur kills get stolen you still get points.

IMO, best weapons for DM are twins rico smoky and thunder

Not Smoky - requires multiple shots to make a kill. Often subject to kill-steals.

Has anyone tested how Firebird performs in Island, Arena and Poly CP with both alterations at the same time? I'm interested in buying the M2 alt as well for CP in small maps, but I'd like to hear some other opinions as well.

I've only got the compact tanks alteration which works great in small maps - until the enemy uses a repair kit. It still yields a high D/L but expect to use lots and lots of DD and RK.

RK is one of the reasons I don't usually use Fire in battles with supplies enabled. I'm more curious about it's performance in CP battles with supplies disabled in small maps.

40%+ protection  - what else would you expect on small maps with supplies disabled?

I have only 3 M4s since I am just Legend 4 and I am focusing more on getting more equipment and that's why I play battles with MUs off so I usually face 35% protection and rarely 50% (Zeus LGC). The thing is that only noobs don't have protection modules against the most important turrets in small maps (at the rank of Legend) so in the battles I enter eveyone has protection regardless of turret. Everyone keeps chaning turrets and protections every 5 minutes in order to counter the enemy team...
