What about the M1 alt? Is it a must have, or doesn't it give any benefits?

Don't. Unless you play on "flat" maps like Desert, it really limits your vertical range on the ramps and levels. Not worth it. The M2 alt is much better and can pretty much neutralize a repair kit in progress.

I use the firebird all the time bcs its the best turret in the game for me at least it goes well with the hornet I have the m1 version upgraded it once it is the best when it comes to sneaking up to enemies and killing the afterburn is the best feature of all firebird features bcs i killed 100 tankers with afterburn

Which map(s)? Unless the other tank was on the same level and as level as me, I don't hit anything, even with the range.

Polygon Pro CP ?

oops

bad choice

Desert, Island and 97% of Farm are the only flat, single-level maps I know of. This is where I would find the M1 alteration to have an advantage.

Pass might be a good map for the m1 alt since most of the fighting in that map is done in the area with all those buildings.

There is still the ramp part and lower level at both ends. The person can drop mines if you pursue them in the crowded middle as some passages are narrow, especially on the edges.

True true, but nowadays, many players don't do that for whatever reason.

it has a big advantage in crowded maps when fitted with light hulls (wasp or hornet). in large maps medium hulls are best sutted for this turrret.
it also inflicts overheat damage wich is quite useful in most small to medium maps. its m0 and m1 (m0=100, m1=7100) version is quite cheap compared to all the other turrets. it has a big avantage over long range turrets( shaft, railgun) if used efectively. it can inflict damage to more than one opponent at the same time (perfect for playing in deathmach).

its xt version looks pretty cool!
