i believe rico is much better at m0 and m1 than it is at m2/3

at low ranks its hard to evade rico bullets since everyone has slow hulls but at higher ranks its much easier to dodge. i like to wave towards my ricochet enemy and i successfully dodge the majority of the bullets with my wasp and then finish him by circling him with freeze.

+paints such as spark and clay means a full clip hardly does anything

But don't forget when Rico starts to show its true power is right at the m2 stage. I'm skipping the m1 and going straight from m0 to m2.

I used to run with M1 Rico and Hornet. It was my favorite turret from WO1 all the way to WO5, however, once I started using M1 rail I can't go back. It is very effective in small and constrained maps and the versatility it shows has always made it worth using. The only real disadvantages are the difficulty involved with "leading" a fast tank, the limited range which makes itself known in maps like Dussel, and the magazine.
