Hey NewbieCake,

 

Yeah, I went through every mod - taking a quick break between Brigadier and Marshal, using Jackhammer to bridge.

 

Somewhere along the way - I think I was M2 at the time - Tanki devs buffed Rico by vastly increasing the projectile speed, later the nerfed it's damage but only slightly. That took some getting used to. But it was awesome.

 

I've noticed Tanki seems to be very careful with what they change with Ricochet. It's mostly been improvements over the last two years. Perhaps there is a concern that a serious NERF might leave Rico collecting dust. Regardless I don't think it is overpowered. It's just a very nice turret, which packs a wallop.

 

The thing I like best is that damage does not decrease with distance. YES!

 

Long road to an answer but actually I had MUd my M2 so much that I didn't notice much change with M3. This was initially disappointing but made sense since I had stupidly dumped nearly 20 MUs into my M2.

 

I just put MU 38 into my M3. Now, that beast packs a PUNCH.

 

I mostly play Gismo level Poly CP games, catching PrincessSeraphina when I can. ;). The other night I found my RicoViking in a non-Gismo PolyCP battle. my Viking is 44/50. I'll just say that we won easily.

No supplies, no MUs - Rico performs excellently in it. Lots of Twins, Hammers, and Vulcans. Very fun blitz attacking from behind.

Not surprised by Rico's performance in non drug non MU battles - it's truly an amazing turret - but thank you for posting.

 

Also of interest is the TM DM rewards. Spend 1000 crystals to join and if you don't place in the top 5 or 6 you end up losing crystals when you consider the return on investment. Subtract that 1000 Crystal investment from the scoreboard and the rewards look pretty awful for someone not very high on the list. Am I missing something?

To join it only costs 860 crystals. And yesterday I had a Premium Mission which expired in that battle like 5 minutes before the battle ended :P. And tbh, the rewards are quite good - I've only played about 1 day this week and I've made over 30k (Prem included) - imo, it's seems pretty profitable.

Bounce motion just rocks. I really like how you circle someone then pummel with all you got. Or maybe I'm just lucky. :ph34r:

i find your kill rate keeps going  down ../if its less then half and it keeps going down your doing good.. for ricochet it self ..try jumping off and shooting at the same time killing players underneath ..when the shots ,bounce  off walls and things its fun to see the surprised messages of shock when you kill then ..they never see it coming in good battles .. or when your flipped over on a ledge and you use recoil to shoot your self back over after dropping off the ledge .. that is also a shock to see them not expect it.. so much fun you can have with ricochet .. lol

My first DM tournament, with Rico of course, I only use Rico since unlocked, bouncing shots brings a new dimension into the strategy, previously been on Hornet but the nerfs and 1shot kills forced me on Viking, which is pretty sweet, I will stuck with this setup in TO for sure! :)
Btw I play with fixed turret and hate drugging, which makes me public enemy.. :D

​Rico is too underpowered its power needs to be improved

The best turret in 1vs1 situations, best kill stealer, also one of the best support turrets. A little longer range or bigger clip would be sweet though.

Hi all, sorry to keep you waiting. As you've realized, DM tournaments are currently offline. It seems that in their present version, they weren't too popular, which resulted in most tournaments being empty (and as a result, really boring).

 

So, we're working on spicing up the system, and also on applying the core matchmaking mechanic to other battle types.

 

Don't worry, I'll keep you informed.

I'm finding that more ricochet players are not using the area there in to there advantageous .. in other words shooting straight instead of hitting items  / walls around them .. using items around you helps in killing the enemy ..due to it do's double damage to them and saves you on ammo and on time being wasted on one tanki this way you get 2 or more tanks killed in one round.. instead of only one per round.. this helps rank your kills up faster and helps you in the long run on experience as a good player ..

I'm not surprised this happened to dm tournaments,the reward was not enough to take the risk, especially if you are not a premium and the others are. They should add the normal battle fund (which grows as the summary score grows like in normal battles) to the prize pool maybe.

Off topic, but I tend to agree. They didn't look very rewarding given the risk.

Not sure about the double damage but the bounce is definitely your friend. Use it.

well i have been playing for the past three years and i always hit the walls with my shots and what ends up happening is double the damage from shots..unless they changed it in the past few months then this would be new to me..

I didn't notice that double damage of bounced rounds so far, but I'm pretty sure now it's not in the game. I prefer to go for a bounce because it really disturbs aiming if the push is coming from the side, people are not used to it.

Yep - some turrets will be no doubt dead once people begin using the protection modules. In fact, now Rico protection is becoming common - every match there's at least 3 people protecting against this turret. And the worst part is they're all above 30! Primarily due to Dragon, Spark, and Desert. 

 

I'd hate to say it, but I predict if people keep buying Rico protection paints at the rate I'm seeing them, this turret will be dead. Fast.

This is backwards reasoning. The fact that Rico protections are becoming common is because many people WANT it. So why do they want it? Because the Rico turret is very popular and is overpowered. THAT is why protections are appearing ... because the turret is a PITA and is very popular. That means the trend is for MORE RIco turrets out there not fewer.

 

So suck it up EVERY turret has the same % protection so stop crying that the OP Rico turret also has some protection modules.

What Rico needs is to be restricted to the vertical arc the the cannon type weapons have, Smokey and Thunder. As it is Rico users can hit anything in front of them and aiming ain't very important. Rico and Vulcan are the two no-skill turrets in this game.

Nah, I'd say his saltiness has something to do with his nic. Sorry couldn't resist.

 

Seriously, I'm somewhere in the middle on this one. I don't believe Rico is OP but I do suddenly want protection from it bc is IS a PITA when someone surprises you with it. I'm Usually dead before I can turn my turret.

sorry but your wrong on Ric due to it does take some skills to know where to hit on walls to get players taken out in certain areas .. like in polygon when on the brick wall and house below .. most players don;t use the wall to ricoche shots from it to hit a player who is on the ramp trying to take you out most keep trying to hit below instead of behind the player..there is some skills needed it just depends on how you use the ricochet .. also most use it like a thunder and that is so wrong unless there in front and have nothing to shot against..
