They are both great, just get the one you're better with and suits your style better. Smoky is better at short to medium range while shaft would easily win at longer range.

IMPORTANT: I talked with one of the developers ( I cannot tell who due to rules) and he said he knew smoky was unplayable for now and he was keeping it in mind. Hopefully this means they plan to reset it back to the way it was quickly, but for now it's worthless except when on a drugged wasp in ctf.

Smoky is now a better drugger than Thunder IMO...

It's the maps that make difference aswell.

 

Thunder fits in longer maps with more obstacles; because of the splash damage.

Smoky fits in short to medium maps with plenty of open ground; since it needs direct contact.

 

If you drug with Smoky in a cluttered space with obstacles, the non-drugged Thunder can still win with peek-a-boo tactics.

Yeah unless you bump right into them.  :P

IT was been Badlly Nerfed Tanki Online Fixed It PLZ because it used to be a fav weapon but from rebalance its just gone down :(  hope Tanki fixes it

Yes HighwindsGDN - what do you mean? I dont realy see Smoky as close range, and if I would like to go close range Smoky would be probably last of my choice. Firebird, Isida, Freeze, Rico (!!!), and Twins - all of them look to me as better choice.

Ok well I get l the highest D/Ls using smoky and titan, both on my low account with an m1 combo and on my higher account with an m3+ combo.  So maybe you guys just have no idea how to use smoky, and what part of it being a close range weapon don't you understand now?  The damage clearly goes down the further away you are from person you're shooting.

^Ok, so statistic wise, you have to agree that the other short range guns are better. But it seems like you are just insanely skilled with Smoky so it works out pretty well.

With experience you would probably beat me on a small map with even with railgun/mammoth. But smoky/whatever wouldnt be most intimidating.

Yes, but there is still max damage at 40m (?), so getting any closer have no point, and that damage isnt that high to begin with.

Anyway, I'm saving up for the 50% turret sale on Wednesday. I currently have 9678 crystals, the last time I checked, and I'm eyeing M1 Smoky, M1 Titan and/or M1 Firebird. I'm interested in Smoky now, since I was absolutely pwned by a skilled Smoky-hornet user a while back. I did the math, and I actually can afford all those three on Wednesday. The only issue is that I would like to have M1 Shaft at some point, and I'm not going to get enough money to buy it during the sale unless I drop Smoky and Firebird (or get 3 boosted gold boxes). Thoughts?

smoky is not really good after rebalance... ricochet does about the same damage but it shoots much faster...
