So, with DD Zeus is not a problem, right?

Fully MUed Zeus has 50% Smoky protection. Using a Double Damage will basically negate that. The only issue is that your opponent can use a Double Armor (judging from the amount of drugging in high rank battles, this is common) and you'll be right back to doing half damage.

you got it! :D

Of course, there are 50% paints for all of the turrets, so you can hardly single out Smoky. Zeus may be a more common paint, but you should be analyzing enemy paints when you select your turret anyways. If there's a lot of Zeus, use something Zeus doesn't protect against.

Basically, Smoky, like all turrets, is fine to use when there isn't much protection against it.

Don't worry, smoky still can effectively go against those paint except Popular paint (Needle)

No, there are more paints with a possible 50% protection.

List of advanced Paints with Smoky protection:

           zero MU  -  full MU

Hohloma   22% → 33%

Savanna   40% 50%

Jade         25% → 50%

Tiger         30% → 50%

Nano        20% → 30%

Needle     48% 50%

Zeus         25% → 50%

In the recent Vlog, Hornet is apparently the best with Smoky, and the poll in this thread says so too. Do you agree?

Depends imo. Hornet got choosen as best with many turrets: simply because it is the most popular hull

in TO. Not because it is necessarily the "best".

You really got to have a complete set of skills to make the combo Hornet/Smoky work.

It won 't work if someone is awesome in aiming, but on the same time lacks decent enough driving skills.

The beauty of Hornet imo is the awesome speed combined with the centralized hull which means that your combo

more or less stays in the "same" shape. No matter if you are moving back- or forwards.

(Wasp changes a lot when the turret is going from standard to "Mosquito" and vice versa.

Better for peek-a-boo, imo not that good when you want to make a fast transition: though Wasp compensates this

by being able to make very tight turns so you can stay in the mostly preferred Mosquito shape.)

It shouldn 't even matter to you in which direction you drive your Hornet and it has to become a second nature.

This way you can for example back off while firing at your opponent and circling around an enemy can be done instantly

clockwise or anti-clockwise.

Shooting (and hitting...) while driving is also a "must".

If you have to stop to aim and shoot: don 't choose a light hull (yet).

If a tanker hasn 't developed this skills enough, than that is a recipe for disaster:

because the combo only works if you can avoid a lot of damage!

And because of the low HP/armour of Hornet, health kits are not a good working solution either.

Under fire you die in seconds anyway and imo it 's much better

to use DD instead of DA with light hulls.

Keep DA and health kits for the medium or even better heavy hulls in your garage!

So in the case described above I wouldn 't recommend Hornet/Smoky at all,

but instead something like Titan/Smoky will be a far better choice.

Smoky is a very balanced weapon, which makes it a good choice on every hull.

In the end: just choose the hull with Smoky that suits you! :)

Amen. Thanks for the response.

I was thinking of getting Wasp over Hornet, since I'm not a huge fan of the drifting... But yes, Titan is great. One of the most used hulls with my Smoky. :)

I sometimes use wasp smoky and Lord of the snipers is right. There is no 'best' hull for this weapon. I love using wasp with it and it does need some skill to handle, but when you can, it will be very powerful!

Question:

I never really played with smoky before just cuz m1 is super bad so I'm wondering if m2 is way better and I should m2 it this sale along with wasp or if I should rather m2 hammer? So far I have played with rail fire and Rico m2 and haven't found a turret that I really liked :(

M1 Smoky isn't too bad, as far as I can remember. It was slightly underpowered at M1 but it was still usable. M2 Smoky is considered one of the stronger M2s, but the problem is that it unlocks laaaate.

Everything gets boring after time, but IMO smoky is more fun than rail

Slightly more of a challenge because you do not have that one-shot kill ability. But it is annoying because there are no traces when you hit your opponent,

Smoky can kill multiple enemies in seconds, Railgun can't do that.

The power of Smoky is its flexibility and versatility - it can be used on any hull, on any map, in any mode.

It can put out constant pressure like Twins, do damage like Thunder with Critical Hits and knock off enemy's aim like Ricochet.

If you miss with Railgun, it's huge. Smoky does not have this problem.

Railguns also suffer from "overkilling" while all of Smoky's kills are consistent and satisfying.

I think that its should deal some more damage because it dosen't deal enough damage quickly enough even with critical.  Other wise very good turret. :D

It is 'very good' but it doesn't deal enough damage?
