?? WHAT REALLY ??

Afaik yes.

( I 'm not a Smoky player that counts his shots so I can guesstimate when the next crit will come.

Just already way to occupied with the gameplay itself to do this. So I just treat every shot

like a regular one: when a crit does show up...hé nice!...and I just continue )

So yes, otherwise most Tankers would never get a crit which would make the turret very underpowered.

Let 's assume (just for this example) that after five hits you get a crit:

Tanker A: miss-hit1-hit2-miss-miss-hit3 (enemy tank destroyed) -miss-hit4-hit5-CRIT

Tanker B: miss-miss-miss-miss-miss (come on nub, you won 't get a crit for shooting in the air...) hit1-miss-

-miss-hit2-hit3-mis-hit4-mis-hit5-CRIT

Though Tanker B takes his time...both get a crit after five hits.

And it doesn 't have to be five hits at the same tank either.

After the crit the sequence starts at zero again.

smoky at 15/50 mus feels different than plain vanilla one. i don't know whether this is real difference or i want to see a difference as i spent 80k on that :P

but smoky rocks...

After spending 80k crystal on MU's, I'm pretty sure I'd 'see' a significant difference, regardless if there is visually one or not. It's probably human nature to hope/think that our hard work pays off in the end.

i bought smoky m3 in the sale

played at that level for a couple of days and really enjoyed it

today in the micro upgrade sale i fully upgraded to m4

what can i say?

Nice, wish I had my Smoky at M4 also.

It 's indeed often more usable than Thunder and is more

suited to get in close/medium ranged melee fights.

Though I rarely use Thunder, I lately was in a battle where

I had a hard time because it was infested with Savanna, Zeus and

other Smoky paints.

Quite late I realized I 'd better use my Thunder and I changed turrets:

brought back memories of those good ol' OP Thunder days...

M2 Smoky is simply epic. It meets all my expectations- hefty damage in general, great impact force, fast reload, and a pretty good critical chance. I'm a bit rusty, so my deflection skills aren't up to par, but I still love it. It and M2 Shaft are probably my favorite M2s.

It quickly became my Number 1. Really loved it on M2 level and on M3 it totally rocks, I plan on MUing it soon, maybe on Valentine or Iron days (of course  if some sales will be announced). I can only recommend it.

For being reknowned as a pea shooter,  incredibly effective.

In the long run Smoky is probably better in the long run than Rico, but if you're looking for power Rico might suit you better.

I have 6 accounts and have used most hulls and guns for a couple of years as an avid player.

I mostly now use Smokey for the following reasons.

Firstly and foremost I love the single punch effect, especially when people are jumping off things when I shoot. I never get bored of spinning the opponent. But also for railguns who if you time it right you can stop from shooting you.

Next is the elevation, especially shooting down you get a better angle than anything but a vulcan. This is really handy when on a bridge because people like twins or ricochet think they can stop and shoot it out with you. The skill of tipping your tank is essential as this makes it a lot more powerful. This years HNY map with the high bridge was great for shooting down from or even up to.

The speed of reload (vs a railgin) and that it never runs out of shot (like a ricochet) means I never feel like I was let down by it. Yes the damage is less but with more shots of good punch, in the hands of a good player you have much more flexibility in your response to any sitation.

The critical to me is not that important, its a free gift when it happens and a nice free gift but I never rely on it or expect it and it has been a long time since I thoiugh "I have not had a critical for a few shots"... I just do not need it to enjoy play. The elevation, punch and speed it what makes this gun great.

The "small" damage it does is offset by its crit and its rate of fire.... what people do not often appreciate is that most tanks you shoot have already been damaged and often one or 2 quick shoits are enough for the kill then move on... other tanks just overkill on a wounded tank. This helps lots when shooting into a melee and makes up for splash damage a bit.

Some people see its immediate damage as a benefit but I do see this as a drawback... I like the way a ricochet shots delay so when the first one hits them there is 2-3 others behind it you do not have much chance of avoiding. Still playing ricochet a bit on my acct coldscomfort, railgun a bit on graham842 and nada_now and loser_byebye were really designed as wasp freeze which I still love for lols and wasting those titans and mammoths

Smokey is similar to a thnder and yes a thunder does awesome damage in comparison but when you play a thunder you realise if you are close the you do good damage but people just get close to you so you damage yourself ... (not good with the self destruct rule) and a thuinders damage is worse over a long range... smokey is a better ranged gun and so would always be happy to face a thunder.

What hull do I use?... well having played at most ranks and having 6 accounts I now keep my smokey hunter until I can get the pack with the M1 viking and smokey (with swash) which I then just upgrade as I get crystals... its much better than spending any other way... normally before I get to 4 squares I have pretty much got an M2 tank that is very very powerful. M1 smokey just is not that good but M2 is the business. M2 viking moves pretty fast and is damn hard to kill even without finding an extra armour box.

The real key to playing smokey is that it is a mid range gun as stated in its description, its a tank you play in the middle of the battle field with high flexibility and it never gets boring there IMO, yes you do not get a lot of flags but you do get a lot of kills.

I still play other guns and hulls (this acct is a smokey hunter M2) but when I do I typically think .... I would have done better with a smokey viking.

Final note is no gun or hull combo works on every map, this has the flexibility to work on most and was suprised at how good it is on Rio and Seruphov which shows these are mid-long range weapons... but it works well on highland too ... in fact not sure of any map I do not like playing it on.

Everyones view is different, not trying to convince people as if more people use a smokey then they will nerf it a bit... but I just had to clarify the gun from my point of view as many seem to overrate the critical damage

Good read!

Hornet is my number one hull with Smoky.

Definitely not always the best choice, but the speed and fun make up for it.

Superb combo in larger Maps like Kungur.

The speed is also the reason that I have a slight preference for Hunter/Smoky

above Viking/Smoky.

Though Viking goes nicely with Smoky: because the fast turret rotation

makes up for the slower turning speed of Viking.

Viking is also the better melee fighter: more stability and armour.

Still the handling of Hunter imo is better: smooth, really smooth.

Yeah, there is no right and wrong in this world, just preference... I get my speed rush from my wasp freeze, my smokey is just watching peple get frustrated from a distance... I do also play hornet smokey, trouble is you often get too close cos of the speed rush.... then you cannot kill quick enough but good fun all the same

True about preference, still there is right and wrong in this world and on a minor, quite unimportant level:

also in this game.

Posted this on "Lets Discuss Game Balance":

"Already disliked the many unbalanced battles nowadays, and with more and more Vulcans

appearing on the battlefield it gets even worse.

How do you recognize OP combo 's? When many players don 't even bother to attack it anymore,

but rather try to steal-kill it 's victims.

And OP combo 's attract Isidas, like honey attracts bees...

Just can 't stand to loose battles because of Vulcan players who simply take the win because they

have way to overpowered material.

Most of the Vulcan players wouldn 't do half as "good" if they would have to fight with other equipment.

Besides I also don 't want to be part of the "winning" team because a Vulcan joins it.

In the end I don 't blame the players though, they can have OP equipment which they like. Fair enough.

No, the blame is on Tanki which doesn 't seem to give a crap about proper game balance anymore.

Yes, there are more OP weapons like Firebird for example, but at least they have their limits

because of range of damage.

Vulcan hardly doesn 't have limits (certainly not in angle..) and added to that there is it 's ridiculous

impact force which makes fighting back very hard.

So I decided to quit on this account till a proper game balance is done.

I play this game to enjoy myself, not to be annoyed.

That 's why I will continue on my alt. account and mostly focus on XP/BP.

Love playing with Smoky the most: but not in unfair battles."

#

On my alt. account I also have a Smoky M3 so I will join an occasional battle

with it to finish a Daily Mission but that 's about it.

Maybe Tanki X will be another solution, we 'll see about that.

Just wanted to let you fellow Smoky players know,

and please...don 't cry for me...

;)

Vulcans can be dealt with pretty easy though. They run out of patience when you keep doing peek-a-boo.

So they'll be firing constantly until the burning effect kicks in.

Barrel stops > you shoot > hide before barrel spools up again > lol

Unless there are Isida's backing up the Vulcan... then you lose.

You will not survive Isida's in general either. Isida's Isida's Isida's

That 's one of the best ways to combat a Vulcan. Taking advantage of it 's spin-up and spin-down time.

When undisturbed you can bring it down without even taking damage yourself.

The problem is that Vulcan is just one of your opponents, and when you 're busy with killing a Vulcan

the others won 't stop shooting at you.

It 's not that Vulcan is The reason that I take a break on my main or maybe eventually a leave,

but it 's the OP straw that broke the lightweight camel 's back.

We Vulcans are also not too fond of moving while firing, it's tough work.

If your goal is to destroy us with minimal damage, get to a higher place and drop behind us.

We'll have to stop firing, turn the turret, aim, rev up, and fire.
