the problem is you're using it with viking.

on most maps smaller than highways, you're supposed to use smoky with titan to get best results.

i use titan smoky in brest cp also and it does very well.

in ctf, only drugs matter, and high dps weapons.

Because Viking is not even consider a medium hull, it's more like a light hull because of the weight.

I have doubts. They are named Magnum, Striker, Ricochet, Twins, Shaft, and Firebird ... even Isida. Splash and big damage per hit rule Tanki and Smoky does neither. Rico and Twins both shoot faster than Smoky with enough impact that they win the impact effect - plus can splash or bounce. All these can pile up points much faster than Smoky.

I do agree Smoky is versiitle. Yes you can beat any of these turrets with it. But add up all players in all games and Smoky come no where close to dominating the other turrets. It's actually at the rear of the pack.

As for m4... the difference between m3 and m4 is roughly 12% DPS or less than +1% per MU stage. This is not significantly different compared to other turrets.

take a look at my profile and check out my use of smoky compared to all the other turrets i have  it speaks for itself

also, your profile shows a completely different story

837k crystals earned when you have 675k xp is amazing.

I used smoky a lot after I bought M2, then M3. I'm a bit underwhelmed.

It loses to all short-range turrets up close.  It has lousy long range so it loses to all long weapons weapons on large maps.

They nerfed the critical and re-load rate too much.

Now that I bought Ricco (& long range alt) I havenot used smoky.

I have a 2nd account that has Ttitan with Smoky. (I recently bought that account a Shaft too.) So I've used Smoky a lot. And I am quite comfortable defending my point that Smoky is not at all the most powerful weapon in Tanki Online. Yes at times even I go on a wrecking rampage even in my piece of crap Viking Smoky rig ... but that does not mean Smoky dominates the battlefield.

I will say it dominates poor nearby Vulcans though. I will say I reckon I have about a 98% chance against a Vulcan not squirreled away in some sniper pit.

What is says is you've used Smoky more than the other weapons. What significance that is supposed to hold for me remains unclear,

I am not sure what you mean by different story, why my profile is amazing, or if you mean amaizing good or amazing bad. :)

-----------------Edit-----------

PS: I will say what Smoky is is fun. It's "tanklike" (I won't say realistic) in that you have to aim and shoot. Encounters are battles, not just one shot the enemy is dead before they know they are under attack.

I think he meant that Smoky is his best turret if you take into account the exp/hour ratio. Apart from this I don't see any other relevant aspect.

He's got an impressive profile so he obviously knows how to play well with Smoky. I am sure Smoky is the best weapon for some players. It's a bit like Striker in that an expert shot can make each turret a beast. But in general as used my tens of thousands of players? I cannot see Smoky as near the most powerful.

Well that's on me then. I didn't make that calculation. ;)

I don't think Smoky is a bad design just that there are some other turrets that in general are more capable.

Do you think the m1 alteration is good

it doesn't have criticls though

I use it very often. On larger maps you often find need the crits for distance. But at short range crits do not add a tremendous amount to overall DPS. Since I like fighting at close range that helps. On the other hand - Since I am always aiming for hull corners and turret tops quite often the normal Smoky impact does the job. Sorta nice to get the extra damage... Hmm.  So it is always something to think about which means it is a pretty good design. Sometimes one way works better sometimes the reverse. Bottom line: If you are a Smoker fisrt and last get the damn thing. it is only 50k and occasionally on sale.

However as I say i use it a lot. A lot. Here are the upsides.

For a little less damage dealt you often take much less damage in return. Obviously it is easier to knock off aim on the same shots you do now.. But you can also toy with the close-in boys: Flame, Hammer, Isida and even Freeze if not, y'know, blindsideed situations. Vulcan is almost helpless against me even on a mammoth. I used to wear Flame/Freeze/Hammer module but now I just beat the snot out of them and use a different mod.

Drag drug drug drug all you want but no amount of DA/DD alters the effects of impact. The higher in rank I go the  more people can poo DA or RK. But if they insist I'll shoot them a few more time before they blow up.

+Impact is not exactly common so players are in general a bit less adept at fightng against it. Not all mind you. But this leads to a specific use you might like. Swap the alteration in after 5-8 minutes of battle.  It corosses them up.  Or do it the ither way. They become leery of your impact so grab a bit more damage from crits.

No matter your style, it is cheap enough every Smoker should own it just to have that option. Same for the m2 alt which I use far far far less often. Still glad I have it.

But is it still worth the money

alterations may be good, but i dont think it is worth the money

you're better off investing your 30 to 50k in MUs or supply kit than the smoky alterations, because smoky is awesome without alterations too

Now I am confused

Should I buy it or not

I need a straight answer yes or no

no, because smoky is good enough without alterations, and the alterations certainly don't make it over powered (unlike stable plasma for twins, high calibre for rail etc.)

Are you talking about your account "smoked" to buy the m1 alteration? If so I would say yes buy it but not this very moment, 1st Sgt. Right now your imcome is probably better MUing your m1 Smoky to around 5/10 or 6/10. Plan on buying the alt after you rank up a bit more. By then it might be sale. But if you are sold on Smoky for the long haul, do plan on buying it.

And you can even score some bonus points with it in parkour.

I am sure youa re spot-on, bu tI don't know one thing about Parkour ... such as it's purpose. Honestly not just sarcastic rhetoric. :)

I think Smoky could be buffed a bit. There are not so many of them left in game. It seems many of them switched to Rico these days. Imho the critical shot (either critical chance or critical damage) should be buffed moderately.
