Smoky really has been a helpful piece of equipment.  Especially in the junior ranks, an advanced modification of this turret and a fair amount of experience can turn this little peashooter into a deciding vote on the battlefield.  I like the long range critical hits.  It is very annoying to enemy tankers who have incapable equipment to be constantly bombarded by Smoky shells, occasionally dealing enough damage to knock them out.

M1 VS M1

M2 VS M2

M3 VS M3

M4 VS M4

Wasn't this done for M3?

Finding and taking control of proper positions on maps? Skill.

Anticipating enemy maneuvers? Skill.

Knowing when and how to attack or defend? Skill.

Taking advantage of the strengths of your equipment and the weaknesses of your enemies? Skill.

Driving, turning your turret, and shooting? Not skill.

I win often exactly because I drive so much better than the average player. ROFL.

Precision targeting system isn't bad because of Reload time +40%?

Still, Min. Damage at +50% and Max Damage +20% with a +20% increase in Critical is pretty devastating - just don't miss.

I remember trying it during the new years sale and it is noticable but still only what, 2 seconds? It would suit titan in a camping situation.

I did not but this for my Smoky/Titan but I did buy Assault Ammo.  Heavy hull + Assult Ammo = survivibility.  But as for using the other alteration with it I have zero experience in titan.

I have it in my Viking account though. It makes a long-range critical hit really hurt. If you know exactly how the critical hit probabilities work you can use that to advantage.

For me though the slow rate of fire sets my teeth on edge.  I used to use it occasionally. Now I use Assault Ammo 100% of the time.

Don't you miss having the critical hit?

Don't you miss having the critical hit?

Nope. Not really.  At the loss of some DPS I almost always cause at least one enemy shot to miss. That allows me an additional shot. One regular shot is more damage than the extra bonus on a crit hit.

One other thing .. impact does not seem to dwindle over range.  Hammering a foe from afar while said foe is in battle with your team mate does not do much damage.  But he has a hard time killing your teammate.  Not to mention the occasional fun from flipping a Hornet straight up and over on his back.  Or causing an enemy to drive off a bridge. :)

Though I will say this. In the past Iused to swap back and forth, sometime during the same game (keep people on their toes). If you hit the corners with Smiky you get pretty good impact even w/o the alteration. So  if normal impact gets the job done, why not get extra damage from crits? That was my thinking.  And maybe now I should go back to try it.  My corner aim has gotten better.

OTOH ... assault ammo works. If it ain't broke . . .

Oh, I find that interesting..... I might try that alteration.

I dont have it and was considering to buy it so wanted know how it is

Willie makes valid points on the knockback alteration, the thing is that Smoky's critical hit doesn't differ much from the standard shots at the higher modifications and it needs to hit the enemy directly anyway. Extra knockback applies to all the shots you put out so that's nice.

I think Smoky with the knockback alteration opens up a new playstyle. It is still one of the hardest turrets to master but I also find it the most gratifying. It makes up for a good turret... and an annoying one aswell lol.
