Sure, being shotted at by an m2 smoky can be annoying at times, but what's worse is being on the receiving end of a fully micro upgraded m1 smoky in the sergeant ranks when all you have is m0s.

If buying either "new" don't forget Thunder m2 unlocks 3 ranks earlier - and can be upgraded toward m3 during those 3 bonus ranks.

 

But if MU-ing items in garage, then yes, Smoky M2 has a decided advantage as you can get a better stock item much earlier. If you can't turn a smoky m1 into a smoky m2 in the 10 ranks it would take to get Thunder m2 you need better financial planning.

Hunter M3 14/20. it's a great combo, suitable for almost every role, Hunter is compact, stable and doesnt drift, hard to knock it around. Smoky requires a steady platform so Hunter is the ideal hull.

Personally, I think the PTS is too slow in regular battles. The reload time does not compensate for whatever increased damaged it does. However, it might be better in druggless battles on a large map.

It was worth the 50k I spent to get it. I rarely use it but as a full-time Smoker I am glad I have it. It is goood on larger maps sometimes, or when the enemy team is just camping on defense. Then instead of crashing the defense with +impact I pick them off at range with PTS.

 

What I almost never ever use is plain old Smoky. I use one alt or the other.

You won't face too many protections in standard battles, don't worry. Things are different in PRO battles.

I'd say don't buy Hunter just yet, save those crystals to buy other modules/turrets, you'll need them.

Well, since a benefit of one alt is to increase critical, and the other alt eliminates the critical, combining them has it's drawbacks.

 

You lose more than you gain since you eliminate of the benefits gained.  But keep all the negatives...

Smokys biggest advantage the "big" impact force with the Assault ammunition works well against up to Viking but above them it makes more noise than result. It is hard to off balance even a Hunter... Without AA even a Wasp comes straight to my face. And yes I aim always to the corner of the lucky one.

You are throwing away a quarter-million Cry if you have hull and turret at m2_10/10 then you buy a kit. Wait two more ranks and you get them free.

 

I have used both alts at once maybe twice. As Wolv said there's no real reason to do so., AA wants frequent hits to throw off aim. PTS wants CHs for the big damage.

No. I am just terrible at saving...

m2 railgun is terrible because you get kicked out of every XP/BP battle you join for being a "Mult' or "noob", but can't afford m3
