Maybe Smoky is slightly more powerful now, but it definitely lost its fun factor.

Most guns have their own "signatures", Thunder has splash, Ricochet has bouncing shots, Hammer has impact force and it goes on and on...

Now Smoky is so dull to use, it feels like a very ordinary Gun.

ُSplash is DeaD too.

This has been said for most weapons post rebalance. Many lost their "special" quality to the view of not being special. Freeze, Thunder, Smoky . Vulcan, Isida, Twins, all got hurt.

I'm gonna get smoky M2 on the sale. TBH it looks more attractive to a first timer than the old smoky, especially since the time it takes to destroy an enemy is pretty predictable.

I would get thunder but I think it's ugly and slow, and M2 smoky looks pretty sick on M2 viking. That being said, rail is a much more active gun since the update, even holding its own without cover if you have a heavy hull. Still, smoky deals enough damage to outpace even the best railgunners, and the impact force looks very attractive. Since the update it can also 4 shot M2 hornets without needing crit, which makes it very appealing for sandbox CTF when mounted on a medium.

Not sure if I need a new paint though. I'm still using tundra.

Twins, Firebird, and Ricochet seem to have all gotten a buff. The rest got a nerf.

To all you Smoky haters.

No I did not use drugs. This was a NO-SUPPLIES battle!

So fellow Colonels, if you're thinking about getting that Smoky at M2, I say do it...it's worth it!

Don't tell me I now have 3 options to think about...M2 Fire, M2 Smoky or M3 Thundy. >.>

Its not nerfed, all they did was decrease critical hit damage by 20-30? And the damage per shot for maxed m4 is 47-52, In 4 shots you are already doing 210 damage without crit, seems to me smoky is more powerful now, and you are just being selfish

that is leading to the same amount of previous damage

What it seems to you is something, while the real practice is something else .

Well, I'm being cheap on upgrading my M3 Shaft, but to takes its place, I bought the M3 Smoky, which I hadn't used seriously since Sergeant.

I know the shot has a big booming Thunder sound to the player himself, but to everyone else, it's this annoying "pocky pocky" sound, and using Smoky against me is guaranteed to turn up the Double Damage on my Shaft! (pocky pocky pocky PA-KOW -- no more Smoky tank)

I also don't appreciate the little dance they do trying to avoid Rails and Shafts...it just ticks me off, so I back off a few meters and (you guessed it)

PA-KOW...

On Monte carlo, there are some tough aiming problems with Smoky for some reason: firing too low from flag to flag.

As a Smoky, I kept getting my Viking undercut by these steroidal Hammers. Fortunately payback is a slam-wham from outside Hammer range!

Wow, I would NEVER play a battle that long. Especially not on Poly CP which I find tedious and repettitive. Anyway, smoky might be a better Poly gun since they nerfed thunder's splash. I'm taking the plunge next weekend with this upcoming sale. Also in the pipeline: Rail M2 and Viking M2. I still like my fire tho...

Why am I telling you this? I guess I thought you'd be interested...

I'll not make that mistake again.

I'm curious then. Which maps do you enjoy? Because Polygon CP has some of the most heated battles I've seen. When both teams are bearing down on the point, and tanks are exploding literally every second, how do you find that "repetitive?" I understand with a gun like Smoky it can get tedious, but you're a Firebird user, how does that get boring to you?

^Translation for anyone interested:

"How to Polygon CP

One: join the match

Two: run to the point

Three: die

Four: repeat

You are playing the best game now!"

I'd agree that Polygon CP matches aren't the most dynamic, but damn its a good way to get Exp.

Smoky does really well in knocking railgunners off aim. It also has a quick reload time which makes it possible to hit someone twice before they run behind cover. The only problem I have with it is that it doesn't have that much of long range damage.

Yes, but smoky (like hammer) is suited to the melee-type of battle. It does have two advantages, in that it does not reload and it can hit opponents at longer distances. The disadvantage is that you need some help, because (unlike Hammer) Smoky does not have a one-kill on nearby enemies. I personally like Twins, because when you respawn up on the "balcony" you can lay a withering fire on the pit. But I've used all three.

(I don't use Vulcan because I like to be able to move and I don't think I'll ever get that move/fire coordination down pat. Most players are still stuck standing still while using Vulcan, because the left hand and right hand are trying to do two separate things)

smoky is great gun for close and mediums range battles. why? because on long range battles you satrt doing no damege!!!!! you can quickly kill smoky with ricochet, isida, freeze and fire. i feel smoky like a great gun for killing shaft , railgun, vulcan (i dont now about hammer :P), twins and thunder. you can play smoky on any map. most good hull for smoky is or hunter or wasp.

Lol, how do I find tanks exploding every second repetitive? Well. Isn't that kinda self explanatory?

You don't need much thinking for Poly CP. Either put firebird, charge to the middle and die, or camp back with thunder and glue your finger to the space button. Sounds abit repettitive to me.
