Should I buy Smoky or Ricochet for my main gun? I like both.

I attack often, but will also snipe. Occasionally I will drop back on defense

if my team has ALL gone to attack.

I'm a Sergeant-major with over 30,000 crystals and I love the hornet.

You'll have to decide which style of play you like better, of course. I'll say this, though. If you can turn your turret, and move your turret and your hull simultaneously (or are willing to learn), you can do well with either gun. If you can't do that, or don't want to learn, don't buy the smoky M1. At least with the ricochet you'll be able to kill the first tank you meet, before getting fragged while you wait to recharge. The smoky's relatively small damage per shot is not enough if you engage like a sitting duck, but can destroy relentlessly if you're constantly moving tactically, your turret never stops moving, and you can hit 80 percent of the time (at least) while doing that. Otherwise you'll be forced to snipe, which smoky is good at from midrange, but why not use rail, then?

The hornet would be good for the smoky play I'm describing. I use hunter, and play quite agressively, and do well. I suppose if I skulked more I'd have a better kill/death ratio, but I enjoy pushing my ability to tactically out-think and out-move the opponent. It is extra important with the smoky to start hitting the opponent before he starts hitting you. Situational awareness.

The ricochet is a battering ram of destructive goodness, but it still requires tactics. You swing in to destroy, then swing out to recharge, using environment--including teammates--to cover you. With ricochet the destruction is so swift and battering, it's very hard to remember that you're about to run out of charge. And be useless for awhile. At pretty close range. It also requires very good aim if your moving (which you should be) or not right next to the target--those balls travel slowly, compared to smoky's instantaneousness, and you need to lead your target.

The ricochet is like Han Solo's blaster--pretty damn cool; and the smoky is, as someone said in the early pages of this thread, like the lightsaber as Ben Kenobi describes it: not as clumsy or random as a blaster; a sophisticated weapon for a more civilized age  :-)

I do turn my hull while driving, and consistently turn my turret. I'm probably going to buy Ricochet m1 and wait until m2 to buy Smoky. I have heard that Smoky m2 is a beast, and Rico is weak at m2 and average at m3.

You nailed it! +++ ;)

Another path could be to micro-upgrade your M1 Smoky, rank to First LT with it and get a M2 Ricochet and than continue to Colonel

to get a Smoky M2.

Don 't underestimate Ricochet at M2 and M3. Especially when you can micro-upgrade the M2 Rico 's damage it becomes

a really powerful turret.

I got smoky m2 today. Feels sooo weak. Should I MU or should I get thunder m3?

Smoky M2 is already strong straight out of the box.

Only some first cheap MU 's and your ready to go.

Use the faster reload and especially the impact force against your

Thunder equipped opponent.

The latter doesn 't work against heavy 's, but medium and especially light hulls can

be easily "off-aimed" when you hit the corners of the enemy 's hull.

If you really can 't make the Smoky work, than the Thunder M3 might be an option.

Mind you: Thunder M3 does need micro-upgrades to perform well.

Smoky is so OP IMO i can't even aim when it's shooting at me.And the reload time is too fast and doesn't give you a chance of surviving when you are locked on,while the other turrets do.. :(

That's because you're a rail user.

Then you aren't using them correctly.

O.K. Maybe it's not the best M2, but with a few MU's, very powerful; and you said somebody rated Rico "average" on M3? Tell me who this person is, because M3 Rico is a lot stronger than Smoky is. Especially in the hands of a skilled user.

Only those who have experience with smoky answer to me

Which is better in Polygon CP Smoky or Twins (I am good with both of them)

Most likely none is better: Twins in combination with a heavy hull

(Titan reaches the point faster than Mammoth and is almost as durable)

is very good at capturing (this gives the most battlepoint in CP) and holding the point.

Also a fairly easy combo to use. Drugging: use DA 's.

Smoky is IMO more suited on a medium hull, and excels in taking out enemies from a further, safer distance

and is very good in quick capture assistance at the point. Not so much in holding it.

This combo needs more skill IMO. Drugging: use DP 's.

Hunter/Smoky in a supportive role (non-capping) in Polygon CP: not very rewarding but great fun!  :)

Twins with its non-stop firing is much better for polygon cp. But if u also play silence I would suggest smoky smoky+mammoth amazing combo I had a 40kill killstreak with that combo also it was a 1 hour battle and 2 golds dropped within 60 seconds!

hmmm... it depends on what your role is in the team. If it's charging the pit Twins is better. But if it's mid-range shooting Smoky is better.

I shocked on how good I am when using smoky. I isida user.

Maybe isida play is one good way to learn how to aim + driving.

But yeah it hard to forget isida habit lol (always aim to close distance)

O.K, sorry if you took offence. But in all seriousness though, if you are having trouble beating Smokies I recommend buying Savannah. NOT NEEDLE

Ahh don't worry o didn't take offence :) ,it's just that firing rate,it's so fast leaving you no hope of surviving...But i think i should buy the savanna paint in next sales(IF Tanki doesn't release a 15% sale at Christmas)

Anyway thanks for the advice. :)
