I was playing against a Smoky among others and he was probably an M4. He got the alteration equipped and that thing is so sick now. I couldn't aim for a moment each time he hit my Wiking M3 25/50, no matter where.

I guess with the critical being so weak now (compared to normal shot) you are not giving up much to get the alteration.

*cough cough* 50k crystals. I see your point though, the point of making the critical shot weaker was to sell the alteration...

Even being weakened, the critical hits are still quite powerful. They save me a LOT. 773 is my critical on DD so I can one shot wasps and hornet M0s.

Well sure - an M1 on DD should be able to wreck a light hull one level down. But if they pop a DA you are back to square 1.

You only get an extra 9% on that critical hit. It used to be +80% dmg.  The critical chance is greater now at 20%. but that increase over the previous 15% does not come close to making up for the much lower damage.

Being able to one shot a hunter was a bit overpowered. I never used Smoky before the rebalance so I can't really tell either. Smoky is working well for me, though. I'm going to get the Northerner kit at the rank of Captain. I have nearly 40,000 cry as of now and I'm making a lot of crystals lately...I made 20k just yesterday, brah. The kit has M2 SMoky and M2 Viking with the winter paint and an M1 module protecting against twins, smoky and shaft. Costs 190,320 crystals...rather cheap for such a powerful tank :D

It's a good plan - the kit is excellent.  I went for the Atlas to get Titan instead.  Either will work well at that rank.

If I had money I wouldn't mind spending a couple dollars to get it at that rank and save my crystals to save up for the paladin kit with M3 viking and M3 Smoky. This is my 6th account on Tanki and I feel I'm going to make it to generalissimo this time :)

Well that seems to be what the wiki is saying. However, my in-game experience tells me that the critical shot is around +30%.

Smoky works with viking and wasp very well, but it fades off and has damage comparable to shaft's arcade shot. Shaft can work well instead of smoky in long range maps like madness where sniping is useful. Smoky is for shorter ranges than thunder, since thunder is more powerful  and can damage yourself. Yet smoky does not have a very high dps compared to twins or other mid-range guns. it is good for very special aplications, but is not very versatile

Please.  Before you post false and misleading info about the game where all can see, take the time to learn about it for yourself.

Good point but for me...Smoky is very good! It helps me stop attackers from getting my team's flag, makes taking the flag easier and i can put an end to multiple enemies one after the other

As I_A_W pointed out, this is wrong.

I find it versatile enough to be the only turret I need.

It told us that you are good at math  :P

The Smoky's critical shot varied from around +25 % to +35 % compared to the normal shot. You have a good estimation if you go by overall +30%.

The wiki says it is low, so just +9% or +10% more than the normal shot.

Interesting.

This presents a dilemma IF I ever get enough crystals to do the alteration.

As per wiki, currently I would not be giving up much to get the boost in Impact Force.

However, if I'm actually giving up 30% damage (on a 20% chance) then it is more significant.
