Now after the update, freeze is underpowered.  Freeze effect is worthless on fast turning guns like twins and firebird and they can kill you  even if you start behind them and start circling the other way.  THere is no way the freeze effect is even CLOSE in power to the firebird INSANE burn that you ALWAYs die from if you don't have health kit or isida.  I have m2 freeze and it kinda feels just like m1.  Only thing i like is that it can shoot through enemies and hit that annoying group of isidas behind that mammoth drugger all at once.  I use freeze and hornet on large maps like kunger and dusseldorf, so maybe that's why i think it's underpowered, but i am really good with it and my overall D/L with freeze is over 1 without drugging.  If i could make one edit to make it balanced, i would make the freeze effect take hold faster.

It was 2014 not even capable of competing in M3/M4 battles as the hulls and turrets turned faster then the freeze effect impacted them.. but the last rebalances made it even worse.

Today Freeze designation has changed.

With its massive energy reservoir you can blast damage for 9 seconds; it is now a drugger turret.

In higher ranks it is used from time to time in small map CP games (arena CP), mounted on serious hulls like Titan ar Mammuth.

With DP activated you deliver a loooong lasting blast of pure devestation. Mainly a drugger-turret now.

but of course the clever gameplay that we loved this turret for.. is completely gone.

It's a shame.

They could change the Blasts color to green and call it "Acid"; that would suit it's characterisitics more.

(Then at least this one guy that advertises an acid turret here in the forum since 1 year would be happy maybe.)

With the new freeze balance, the range of max-damage (defines range for max efficienty) is increased to 10m.

with the M1 alternation for freeze, this max-damage range can be increased by 100% (to 20m).

So will freeze deal then its maximum damage truly within a range of 20m?

Thats.. kind of brutal.

On the other hand the wiki tells that the freezeing parametes are changed:

Freeze level of hull 0.3 -> 0.1. So a hull will move by 10% of its speed.. this is virtual standstill.

But the freezing rate (measured in seconds??) is increased from 0.6 to 2++seconds..

does this mean it will take forever to freeze an opponent?

A wasp dies within 2..3 seconds you know..

EDIT: after some test on the testserver: :(((  it lasts forever to freeze down an opponent -.-

Again it will be very, very, very hard to play Wasp-Frezee, which once was a very funny and still balanced combo.

Now.. not any more.. especially as the Wasps agility is reduced.

That's because at m1 ranks the turrets still turn slow enough for the freeze effect to be noticable.

especially when they have light hulls equipped

I found a 43/50 m2 hornet and tried to freeze it. It just refused to freeze, i sat there and kept firing at it but it wouldnt turn that light cherry blue m2 firebird does to things.

THANK YOU FOR BRINGING BACK THE FREEZE EFFECT!!!  :)

Now i feel that freeze actually has a special advantage over other turrets, and can compete with firebird and twins if the user has enough skill.  It's not OP, but maybe on really small maps with medium hulls, but then again, so is firebird.

Wait for the decent freeze players to dust off their skills.. and they will rock.

The freeze effect is ___extremely___ powerfull now (post balance).

Nice for freezers.. but for sure frustrating for their victims. Freeze effect is very important as it is the main characteristic of the turret.. but not to be able to move _at_all_ is almost as frustrating as beeing 1shot all the time. I fear the strenght of todays effect broke the "beeing anoying barrier" by far. To not destroy fun for players is an important aspect of balance too ;) ).

compared to previous versions..

Overall freeze today is a lot stronger and more eeffective in DPM and TTK compared to 2014. Freeze (today) it is combined with outstanding damage, and an excelent duty cycle. In the past (2014) freeze was good at freezing up to M2, lacked freezing power vs M3s. But damage and duty cycle where far lower.

Today it will scores more, imobillizes stronger, kill faster.

Balanced?

The only thing why I _might_ be tempted to call it balanced.. is that firebird was bufffed too. Freeze and Fire could be leveled now; which makes close rangers more powerfull in comarism to midrangers (I wont talk about Isida now...).

Thats actually a good thing, as the M3s and M4s can shread those light-Fire and light-Freeze into bits before they even get into action. And before the argument comes: no, a wasp is _not_ hard to hit for a Gismo with any midrange turret. If someone believes that, his aiming skills are way below average. Besides the new Hornet and Wasp are worse at driving then before, while the turrets aiming specs are almost as they used to be.

Lets see.

Yes, in fact the damage of freeze should not be the same as the damage for firebird.  But the strength of the new freeze effect is perfect, not OP.

Now I love to freeze a pile of tanks when gold drops and all the numbers flash up :D

And the Firebird (with alteration) right behind you is doing even more damage to all of you!

(while the hornet Isida sits off to the side and watches  )

got it m2 today and MAN! I OWN WITH IT  :P  Amazing stats at m2 but m1 m0 and m3 meh firebirds better there

Most turrets at m4 can turret as fast as the freeze can circle under freeze effect..if they are prepared before.  I think freeze is quite OP at m1 and m0 because the turrets and hulls there turn too slow..so please...firebird m0 is a joke anyway.

Against each other, firebird beats freeze because it turns so fast it kinda negates the freeze effect- but I think freeze may be more effective against other types of turrets.  So yeah, about equal at higher ranks.  Obviously m0 fire is worse than m0 freeze.

Is Firebird or Freeze better overall right now?

This is depends on your gameplay. For me freeze the better than firebird, because he can stop the enemies, keep defence and give good support for team. That is necessary in CTF. Firebird is more attack weapon i think

pretty equal at the moment; depends on your playing style (hit and run, vs clever usage of freeze effect in attack and defense).

Both also work well as pure damage dealers on medium hulls.

The M3 alternations will decide later on.. but we don't know this yet

Who gets more deaths than kills when using Freeze......?

A tactical clever player that uses his energy to disable enemies (slowing them down) so that his teammates can finish them off.

236 point on 11 deaths are 20+ points per death. That's nice.

ps: maybe he is a notorious flagrunner on a light hull, those have bad K/D ratios too (like me :p )
