It is very stable and therefore is great with shaft, it`s height makes it a difficult target, while it`s armor makes it a difficult enemy of fireguns, twins and isdas.  Finally, it works well if combined with short-range range weapons too.

Pretty good for a sniper that preferes medium hulls...

is this a good hull for isida? trading off speed for protection better?

I would say yes, but I have a bias towards health instead of speed. Viking if you play defense/mid, but hornet if you are an attacker.

Really wanted to buy Vik m2 but too expenisve. Never gonna get my viking from m1 after all.

Gonna buy cheap hulls at m2 so i can save for m3.

Hornet m2, Dict m2 and mammoth m2

Pretty good plan. M2 Viking only lasts for about 4 ranks, only 2 really since a LOT of ppl buy M3 kits at Brigadier... Like me.

Even better plan now that MUs are crazy expensive.

EDIT: dropped four MU steps into my M3 Viking on this weekend's sale. Could have done more but couldn't justify it at only 25% off. I need those crystals for M3 Ricochet in a few ranks.

Just a note to Viking users: even with Speed-up, you are not going to catch a Hornet.

I have chased several and had to change to Hunter to keep them from running-and-shooting-back.

I was on Monte Carlo when a Viking Isida tried to chase a Hornet flag grabber and only ensured that no one faster could get past him to stop the eventual winning capture. Vikings and Dictators: just get out of the way and let the faster hulls get where they are going!

When I am a Viking at the flag, I never block the ramp!

Good advice for any tanker. Don't chase tanks. Let them go. Instead turn around to kill the tank that is ALWAYS sneaking up behind you.

That and chasing tanks takes precious time that is better spent engaging someone who wants to fight.

So true! Very well done!

Yes, you should always focus on your back, front, and sides in every situation.

Chasing them is a bit easier at M1 with Speed boost, however.

Thanks! I learned the hard way... Chasing tanks invariably ends up with me dead. Usually it's the sneak behind me, but the fleeing tank usually has a goal in mind like a strategic position, supply box, running down his own drug timer, or other tactical advantage. So when the sneak doesn't get me, the fleeing tank gets what he wants, does an about face and pops me.

And all I can think about is the thirty to forty seconds of play time including respawn lost during which I could have been getting my own kills.

You'll be tempted to chase them, especially if you've landed a few good shots and feel like one more will get you the kill.... You don't want that easy kill going to someone else right?

Wrong. It's no longer an easy kill for you. Just let em go.

The sneaking up part is only when the enemy team is actually organized. I used to when I was at lower ranks I would (try and most of The time succeed) in taking command of The brest ctfs that I went into (back before warrant officer 1 the only battles I played were brest ctfs) and I would organize the battle (snipers up top. Defenders by the ramps and the flag. Two isidas following the flag carrier. And me up top with the other snipers killing ANYONE who aimed at the flag carrier or was following him) so yeah minus a few times the battles I joined where organized pretty good (its so sad that there's like never any Brest ctfs anymore :() Edited by fordmustang12345

Sure there is! Only a lot of times the good ones are full.

If I am playing for the blue side, I always try to steal the red flag from the back. Just need to one of those nitro drops from the back corner, make my two turns and zip straight out into the pit. If they have a Mammoth sitting on the flag, then I get to sample the business end of the equipment the opposing team is using and then chalk it up not as a loss but as a one-way recon mission and report my findings. :)

Yeah that's one reason I love it (especially once I get m1 sniper equipment) if ur on the blue team just equip hornet+hammer and zip through (unless of course they have a mammoth on the flag then u smash 3 and hope for the best)

I remember getting viking m0 way back before rebalance as an upgrade from m1 titan. The change in speed size and appearance was so big I felt like I had achieved something huge. Its been my favourite hull since the beginning of time ))
