The Viking is what I use and it's always good to know your tank. The Viking has a lot of defense, but has a decent speed. Now, the Viking may not be that incredibly fast, but it still is a good thing to get. The problem with the Viking is that it has a anti-inertial turning acceleration. This causes the tank when to move left/right when you try to go forward or  backwards. It's like the tank has a mind of it's own where it tries to ignore you.

My experience: When I first got the Viking I was noticing that it kept turning right and left. I thought it was my computer and I made sure the computer was functioning properly. I shut down my whole computer. I turned it back on and got back on Tanki and tried to go in another battle. The same thing happened once again. I was mad. I change to hornet. Later, I checked on the wiki and it  said that the anti-inertial turning acceleration is in this tank. The Viking and the Hunter both have it.

You can practically use the Viking for pretty much anything you want. I use the Viking with firebird and it turns out really good. It depends on what you choose. It your tank and it's your decision and at the end of the day, your the one to make the choices.

I'll be ranking up soon and i want to know what would be better a better M1 hull

I'v compared the viking M1 with the Dictator and Hunter M1s and although I haven't tried any of them yet I think that the Viking M1 won't be as good as the hunter and dictator (I use the thunder)

Yeah I agree, though even without those qualities it is till a great hull of choice. It's speed is reasonable and it's strength is great for it's speed. A great hull that can e used for practically any turret which is great. It's my favourite hull of choice!

It is very stable and therefore is great with shaft, it`s height makes it a difficult target, while it`s armor makes it a difficult enemy of fireguns, twins and isdas.  Finally, it works well if combined with short-range range weapons too.

Pretty good for a sniper that preferes medium hulls...

Personally i do consider Viking very dangerous in experienced hands, but prefer Hunter anytime. If your playing style is agressive and you are able to make use of extra speed and turning speed, Viking simply cannot match Hunters versaitility at roughly the same armour.

If I were you, Viking is excellent on M1. But, however, if you're patient enough and willing to spend the extra crystals, Hunter M1 is much better.

Yeah, but the other versions of vicking (M2,M3,M3+) are much better then hunter's

Viking is a workhorse. It's the only hull I have ever used (on my main)

I've always respected and appreciated Viking's armor, but at M3, Viking has finally really impressed me with its power. I can push most tanks like they aren't even there and I can even push mammys... From the side.

Another case in point... I was teetering over a wall last night and Viking M3 was powerful enough to pull up and not fall over

But Viking turns like a spinning top, very hard to control. And it gets hung up on just about anything. Speed bumps, triangular gradients, other tanks... You name it. Vikings steering leaves a lot to be desired.

Which should I make M4... viking or Hunter?

Actually, the M3 version is the most balanced version of Viking in comparison to Hunter. M0 Viking is better than M0 Hunter, M1 Viking is definitely worse (Less armor and less speed), M2 Viking is exceptionally better, and then there's M3. Its stats are very close to those of Hunter, and the only major differences between the two hulls are their respective uses in battles.

This really depends on which turret you prefer to use, since long and mid-range turrets do very well on Viking, such as Railgun and Ricochet, and basically any turret goes well on Hunter, but the shorter range turrets and Railgun do very well. So really, it just depends on what you want to use...

Viking players usually fill a completely different role than Hunter players. Whereas Viking shines (I'm talking about CTF here, I'll get to other modes in a minute) as a camper and in midfield-ish positions, Hunter functions as a rover or flag carrier. In TDM, Viking is still a camping hull, and Hunter is suited more for flushing enemies out of their positions into enemy fire, since it has enough speed to cover a lot of ground without being too exposed to enemies, and still enough health to make a camper think twice about a 1v1 face-off. In DM, Viking is (again) the camping hull, able to take out several enemies by itself. Hunter is more of a rover, using its extra speed and maneuvering to avoid dying too quickly, and making sure to kill at least one enemy per life. In CP, Viking is more useful for holding the point, whereas Hunter is more useful for taking it in the first point (Unless you're on Polygon, in which case I wouldn't use Viking due to the campers on higher ground, which Viking can't tilt to hit because it's too stable).

I really want to use Viking. I've already invested in it. It has more armor than Hunter, for what that's worth.

I think Tanki has confused things by making Viking an early M3 unlock and Hunter M3 a later one. That makes their stock armor stats closer than they would be if they unlocked at the same rank. I kinda wish Hunter unlocked first. As it is, I'm tempted by Hunter's speed, but outside of obvious kit buyers, I don't see many people using Hunter.

I am going to stick with Viking. I might break out Hunter for CTF now and then.

Viking is good, arguably great. The problem with both Viking and Hunter is (duh) that as versatile medium tanks they are never the best at anything. They are not the fastest tanks nor are they the toughest.

But they are good enough to play in battles which require speed and other battles which require strength. This is foremost a huge money saver since you can play any battle without having to invest in specialty tanks. I played through to Marshal on Viking only and have done well in battles and in crystals.

I do avoid Monte Carlo, Düsseldorf, and Lost Temple because those are home to long range weapons, not necessarily because Viking is a slower tank.

My only beef with Viking is the steering. It feels like all the weight and power is at the very center of the hull. A hit to the corner by almost any weapon sends Viking radically off course or worse, spin it like a top.

But this is a small price to pay for such a tough tank.

Yeah, I always felt like the steering was a hybrid between Mammoth and Hornet.

It does better if you stop completely, but if you try turning while moving you tend to skid and go a lot slower.

Hunter is a little more reactive to turning, but has an awkward drift to it and can't really react faster.

I have a theory that turning speed and turret rotation speed go together, and you can turn faster by simply switching perspective and going that way or by turning both at the same time.

Viking's steering is the only thing I'll ever have against it, but surprisingly, this seems to be a good aspect of the hull for Vulcan players. Strange as it may seem, in the hands of a skilled enough driver Vulcan becomes a great midfielding turret, and I'm speaking from lots of experience. Due to some strange convoluted reasons that I'm not exactly sure of, Viking/Vulcan users can adjust very quickly between targets and can track faster targets (this has something to do with the gyroscope and Viking's otherwise awkward maneuvering). I've also seen more people using this combo, so Viking might be a more popular hull moving forwards, depending on whether or not the Red Suit paint is popular.

I've only seen two, maybe three RedSuit paints in battle. Not that popular at Marshal.

Paints with no Fire, Rail, or Thunder protection are just not going to be big in this game.
