I just realized the same thing. It is significantly less stable. On the positive note, I have been able to actually rock it more than it used to be rocked...nothing like some of the other hulls, but better than it used to be.

No, at the high ranks it is hard to drive and aim under fire because the impact forces are too great. For light hull users it's a bit of a nightmare.

I also think Viking works well with rico...the added rotational speed of the rico allows for quicker adjustments under fire. The added speed of the viking also makes it ideal to combine with circle strafing when mounted with the smoky and rico.

I think that the Magnum really goes best with this turret because of it's average-ness.

I bought Viking + Hammer M1 at and it's a good combo, but now that Hammer got nerfed I think you should go with Ricochet.

I don't think it got nerfed, the wider spread helps in damaging multiple enemies, and the extra range helps too

Viking is the best hull in the whole game :)

I love the Viking, but in higher ranks it's instability and lack of power do show up...you have to be really solid to be accurate when taking hits...the new Hunter is much more stable now...slow, but stable!

I have been able to catch only 2 goldboxes uptill now with my M1 Viking. In almost every match I see, its always the dictators who get the g boxes and hornets/wasps climb on me. :angry:

 

On the bright side, it has got medium HP and decent speed and good looks  :D, so I last longer in DM/TDMs. Its great with smoky and absolutely wrecks hornets and wasps with hammer ( just need a double damage ). Only not being able to catch goldboxes is a bummer.

 

Q: Does anyone use viking for goldbox? If so, how many approximately, have you caught?

Goldboxes are not easy to come by with the Viking IMO. Certainly Dictators are at a huge advantage with height, power, speed, and balance to pop onto other hulls. 

 

I love the Viking (except the instability) and have found it very capable on offense, defense, and midfielding. IF you played with the previous hunter, then the Viking is most similar to it.

Luckily, Dictator is so bad that barely anyone uses it. Viking and Hunter are a lot better choices if you want to perform well in battles.

Viking not great for Gold as it is low and many tanks ride up on it.

 

It's not a bad hull, but, if I could have a do-over I'd probably choose Hunter for the stability - what Viking used to have before they made the ridiculous update that switched Viking and Hunter characteristics. That was criminal.

The poll should be redone since Viking is no longer what it used to be. The slightest bump (whether it's from your opponent or your own teammate or a shot from a turret that has even the slightest impact) will throw off your aim. It's like a hovercraft hull. It is no longer the very stable platform it used to be.

Exactly, it's very unfortunate that Viking; being low and wide has no proper stability anymore.

It doesn't make sense. There must be a reason behind this nonsense but I don't see it.

If my memory serves me correctly, I remember the time that medium hulls were previously balanced as the following: Hunter was the fastest but had the least HP; Dictator had the highest HP but was the slowest; Viking was simply the all-rounder, and people surely liked Viking for that.  Note that this was before the Tanki team started emphasizing a hull's power and weight.

 

Seeing that M3 Viking now has the least power and weight among the trio of medium hulls, though, makes me conflicted as Viking is the most aesthetically pleasing medium hull in my eyes.  In terms of application, Viking has less pushing power and is less stable than its two rivals.  Sure, Viking is the fastest of the trio, but these two traits do take away Viking's aura of the all-rounder hull.  Especially when high impact force turrets can jostle a Viking around more easily than a Hunter.  To what degree I'm not sure, but you get my point.

 

 

 

TL;DR: Viking is far from useless, but ever since Tanki changed the hulls' parameters around (perhaps trying to showcase Hunter and Dictator more), Viking just isn't the same.  

 

Then again, this is mere conjecture, and perhaps Tanki made their decisions on hulls' parameters for the better.  Still, after witnessing 4+ years of drastic change in Tanki, I guess I'm just tired.
