Has anyone noticed that Viking seems to be getting knocked off course/aim more easily?  Even Smoky is knocking me around as badly or even worse than Rico used to.  A well placed hit from Hammer will turn me almost a full 90 degrees.  I've had Smokys following me and shooting my butt and wiggle me around like a Wasp...worse really.

Maybe it is just EVERYONE has a MU10 turret since all the crystals from the War containers and weekly rewards.  But it sure doesn't seem like the stable hull it used to be.

Opinions?

It has been that way since the stat swap of hunter and Viking back in the rebalance update of October 2016.

It's honestly not so bad at m1 ranks and below only because very few players down there know how to hit corners. But once you get to the m2 ranks and higher, there will be a lot of people who know how to hit corners.

No its the Hunter-Viking Swap

Viking feel like paper now when taking hits

A Twins with good aim can make you do 360s { A M4 Twins did it on me while i was on pause }

The MU on turrets make it worse

But it still is good if you are good with Sneaking , camping with Viking is not a good choice at the current time

I've been playing since the Hunter-Viking swap when Viking got drift and Hunter lost it, but just in the last couple of weeks, maybe even just one week, it seems that all of a sudden Viking is getting bounced around more badly.  Even standing still and not moving forward or back with no one shooting at you, if you give Viking a quarter spin and quickly let go, it keeps sliding for almost another quarter turn.

It feels like there is a center pivot point on which it spins around while the center of gravity has been raised.  I just have to wonder if there hasn't been an unannounced Viking "balance".

Yeah it looked much better when hunter still had the drift. It just looks ******ed to see a Viking drift. And it feels ******ed to be drifting in a Viking.

The drift on the viking is now well beyond what I experienced in the hunter years ago...not sure why or how, but it is unusable when facing most turrets.

I would have just bought m2 hunter during the 2016 Xmas sales if I had known about Vikings instability back then. But whatever, I'm at the same destination now. They ruined Viking to the point that it's completely useless at m2 and beyond.

Viking is broader than Hunter

And Viking feels like paper TBH

even Wasp feels more stable now

It's old stability was the only thing that made Viking relevantly decent in the m2 ranks and above. Now it's just trash, as my m2.4 Viking sits in my garage collecting rust, cobwebs and possibly even spiders.

It's decent with Isida as you need speed to close distance with enemies, or to get to wounded team-mates.

But for smoky or striker... ugh.

Unfortunately I've invested a lot to get my Viking to m3 17/20.

Might leave it there and eventually save for Hunter M3 on a 50% sale.

For turrets like thunder, smoky, striker, shaft, and railgun, using Viking isn't really the best choice as these turrets rely on stability to even be effective.

I didn't signed up for the stability issues though. Back when I bought Viking it was still a stable low platform hull paired with my favorite Smoky turret. And then they swapped stats when I got it on M4.. just like that.

But Viking has more speed, I think you can counter lack of stability better than lack of speed. I can use short range turrets just as easily, it's absurd. I'm very used to Viking now being that it's my only medium hull. I miss the old Smoky Viking combination though, they paired perfectly.

True, but there is no drug for stability. DS is a hunter's best friend. For a viking you have no way to remedy the instability.

but there is no drug for stability.

No Drug but there is a tactic { Turrets except Short ranges , but will work with them also }

Just have good eyes , good knowledge of the map , and have the timing and ability to predict the opponent ...

Some prefer Viking cause of its low profile actually not the speed  B)

And Also Hunter's looks are not every ones cup of tea

No

I hate to be the one to say it - but - it needs to be said.         It's not the jeans...

Exactly

it's something else  :P

#re-old-viking

No

Never

The Viking-Hunter switch was aimed at selling more Hunter's i think

but it ended in Viking becoming more popular

But it did increase the number of Hunter's , At least on the M3 levels  <_<

How do you figure that?

You see a lot of Vikings because many of us had already invested too much into Viking to make the switch.

The weakness becomes so apparent when you have a Ricco trying to fight a twins in Industrial zone.  Could barely get a shot on the twins as it's ridiculous impact kept turning my Viking.  Sad.

When I started an alt account, guess which medium hull I have invested in....

But it made hunter OP. It is the most versatile hull in the game now with rocking ability.

At least when still had its old stability, it didn't have the kind of rocking ability that hunter has now.
