Are there ANY advantages to mammoth over titan? I actually like how it looks.

Pros:

More weight (less likely to flip)

More pushing power

Better turret placement

Better lateral acceleration (I don't know if this is normal acceleration or something else)

More HP (M0)

Cons:

Worse reverse acceleration (how fast you can stop your hull)

Worse top speed

Worse turning speed

Less HP (M1, M2)

About the same:

Turning acceleration

Anti-inertial turning acceleration (how fast you can stop the turning of your hull)

HP (M3, M4)

Pros:

Better lateral acceleration (I don't know if this is normal acceleration or something else)

lateral expression describes the amount of "drift sideways" -vs- "stick to the curve line like on rails"

The more lateral acceleration you have, the more it keeps you on in tracks like you drive around a curve on rails.

If you have less lateral acceleration, you drift.

You will notice the difference between Hunter-vs-Viking and Wasp-vs-Hornet.

Due to the speed and weight of Mammut / Titans you won't notice much of a drift anyways, in neither of them. The difference is more a theoretical benefit, then a practically noticeable advantage.

The only advantage I can make use (personal opinion, owning both) off with a Mammuth is the better turret placement; but the "agility" of the Titan outweights this for me. The pushing power maybe makes sense if you play drug-battles, where you dope yourself back to life.. because usually those heavies die before they made a serious amount of benefit through pushing.

Thanks for explanation. Where is the normal acceleration though? I can't find it on Wiki.

As far as I heard they took the parameter away and "replaced it with power" (although power was stated beforehand as well.. but let's not be picky on them).

Following the idea that games often copy the basic principles of natural physics and just alter them, I assume that the acceleration of a tank correlates to the power-to-weight-ratio (power divided by weight) for each tank.

This means that we "simply ignore" the physical power>to>tourge translation, which comes through gearing.. but I think we are good off to assume that all tanks have the same gearing (I doubt they made a parameter for that) and therefore power translates into torge with the _same_ ratio for _all_ tanks.

So in the end [power divided by weight] should give a good indication, which tank accelerates fastest.

I never gave it a try to check this correlation in terms of figures, as the change was made at the same time when they changed Wasp slower and less agile + they swapped Vikings stats with Hunters stats. By this single update they f*cked up my two hulls at that time, and I was so *.........happy -.-  * about that, so I did not think about the acceleration thing in detail.

"There is no match for this one's armor, although your grandmother would beat it in a race."

Assuming "armor" is protection, that statement is only true for the M0 Mammoth: 1350 vs 1505.

The M1 Titan has more armor than the M1 Mammoth: 1895 vs 1817.

The M2 Titan has more armor than the M2 Mammoth: 2986 vs 2830.

The M3 Titan has the same amount of armor as the M3 Mammoth: 3376 vs 3376.

Literally every one of those descriptions are inaccurate, along with a lot of the loading screens. Someday I'll take screenshots of all the outdated and false garage descriptions and loading screen tips and request that they stop misleading some poor noob who thinks Viking is "incredibly stable". LOL

why would anyone get Mamouth M3 now ? it have the same parametres as Titan M3 but Titan is faster, way faster, so no ONE will get Mamouth m3 anymore..it will be more rare than Xt lol

The Mammoth looks multitudes better than the Titan.

In regards to speed, I could deal with 0.43 m/s less speed for a tank that I'm proud of.

Sometimes I marvel at noobs who think its a good idea to use this turret with Isaida, Firebird, Freeze, and Hammer.

This was a real conversation:

Noob: Why can't I kill anyone?

Me: Why can't you?

Noob: They run away too fast and hit me, and I can't use my firebird to kill them.

Me: Try changing to a faster hull.

Noob: But it says this one has the best armour, and I'll die if I use anything else.

Me: Then use a long range turret.

Noob: But it would take to long to reload. I like my firebird and mammoth.

Me: Welp. Enjoy dying.

Noob: You'll see.

Statistics at end of round showed that he got NO kills.

LOL  :D

I like my Mammoth M2 (with Vulcan). The stability and turret placement is a big + compared to Titan. The speed or armor needs to be boosted though.

I love the titan and never really use the mammoth, but the mammoth has a superior turret placement for peek-a-boo fighting, superior pushing power for moving enemies and getting gold boxes. I have considered buying the m3 simply for those few advantages. The titan is horrible at pushing. I think the wasp is more powerful;)

The Mammoth, if it's front is under the gold box. The back isn't very high.

I need at the highest point. You don't know it, but the hit box is  a rectangular cuboid which is bigger than the visual aspect of the hull. The computer sees the hitbox, you only see the hulls with the paint.

See below an example for the dictator: Hitbox in yellow/orangy

As a matter of fact I do know about the hitboxes, I discovered it while

a) firing at Dictator with railgun

b ) bumping into the air around those burned-out titan-firebird corpses on some maps

c) learning about it on the forum and wiki.

Since the hitbox would be the smallest rectangle possible to fit around the entire tank, I would assume Mammoth has a higher hitbox than Titan, because it has a higher highest point.

I lagged both of them through drops and it was very close, too close to be conclusive.

Then i tried both under a drop, titan won, but i was lagging. not conclusive either.
