Let's discuss Wasp!

When I started about a year ago, I used wasp Becuase it was fast. At first beginners will tend to drive full speed with a wasp and turn left or right while shooting something like smoky, then of course they either fall on the side of the tank and don't know how to get back up normally or they land with the top of the tank below the wheels* and blame the game. ;)

 

*dont know the name of the things that move your tank at the top of my head right now :/

Haha yeah, it was insane right after they removed Tiers in the equipment.

Wasp was so fast and it still had a lot of wobble.

I like this tank, it's very fast and manoeuvrable, the right tank to steal flags. The only problem is the stability..

I'm a low-level player, but I have quite the knowledge in the game. Yesterday I was browsing through the MU section of Hornet and Wasp and noticed that Wasp has the advantage in Speed and Protection. And Wasp is much smaller and harder to hit than Hornet. So why is Hornet more prefered than Wasp?

No it is the cause of missing shots and flipping.

The reason it seems that Wasp has better protection is because its M2 modification unlocks later and costs more. But it's the opposite for M1 - in this case the Hornet is the one that unlocks later and has a higher price.

 

As for the advantages, Wasp is, indeed, faster than Hornet and slightly smaller, so it's harder to hit. But Hornet's main advantage is that it's a lot more stable and much easier to handle.

 

Do you get killed by Wasp's bad handling in high levels? I mean, is it the cause of death?

It's rarely going to be a direct cause of death, but it will still affect your performance. For example, with Hornet you will be more comfortable steering it, so you won't have to slow down as much as you perhaps would with Wasp to avoid crashing, therefore you move faster and are a more difficult target. Alternatively, some players mastered Wasp's difficult handling and are using it to their advantage, carrying out maneuvers that require a lot of skill, but would otherwise be impossible with any other hull. 

 

In either case, Hornet is by far the most popular hull, and I don't think that would be the case if Wasp was significantly better.

It's kinda a well known Tanki fact; Hornet is the most popular hull in the game. I'm too lazy to find actual numbers, but this is a screenshot from the unofficial Tanki wiki:

 

 

Anyways, IMO they are both equal.

Advantages of Wasp at lower modifications (M1 and M2) are just because Wasp is more expensive and unlocks later. You should really be comparing Wasp and Hornet at M3 and M4

 

Onto that: 

 

Hornet is significantly more agile than Wasp; as it has better acceleration. It also doesn't flip as easy, due to a heavier weight. Wasp has a higher top speed, and better turning; meaning it doesn't obnoxiously drift everywhere like Hornet does. 

 

You are picking between dodging shots easier/changing directions quickly+better stability and better turning tight corners+higher top speed.

 

It's all about preferences, there is no better or worse :P.

It was found out many times from various polls, such as ones where players chose which hull should get a discount. But it's also personal experience - Hornets are way more common.

Agreed. But M3 and M4 don't really matter at my rank since I'm still playing with M1 against M2's. As I said earlier - I'm a low-rank player.

Don't forget that Wasp has much more grip in the corners than Hornet, there's no skidding.

This comes in handy when you're chasing down flag carriers when there are a lot of obstacles in your way.

 

On light and fast hulls, grip is more important for me than stability

wasp is faster but also easier to get killed where as hornet has a little stronger hull but less speed . i enjoy hornet .
