Especially with the extra speed Wasp has and moving from the flat view into hiding small places within a seconds, that is something normal to heavy hulls can't do that fast. Agree with you as well.  :D

Well I have wasp m3, rail m3, and freeze m3. Was wondering on what to get for the next weapon to go along with my wasp for normal battles (non xp/bp). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Overdrive is a nightmare for wasp !

When you survive a mine, placed in middle of nowhere, at full speed you just end up performing a back flip and land on your back :/

I've been playing the most Wasp M1, respectively. It's the fastest tank. It has weak endurance. I've been playing with this for too much, think about the future Hornet M2 tank.

Wasp is faster with the same health as hornet, so wasp has more potential. Hornet with it's weight is more forgiving.

Hornet has better stability, acceleration, weight (almost the same as stability but shape also plays a role in stability) with a slight drift ability which is much less noticeable after recent updates, viking also drifts but wasp does not as far as I know.

Wasp has better top speed, height (more useful than you think), shape and turret placement is also better for some turrets such as freeze, and that is pretty much it, I heard wasp used to be much more agile before but I bought wasp after the update that nerfed it.

Wasp may look like a better option if you look at general stats but it depends in situations and maps also!

They have few differences but there differences are much more noticeable in formats in which every second and every mistake counts such as XP.BP.

Wasp is good for those epic shots in sandbox its top speed is a slight advantage maybe unnoticeable because hornet has better acceleration which means it gains speed faster than wasp so in maps where you have to do allot of stopping and turning, Wasps top speed does not matter much unless you are moving  in a straight line.

Hornet is very great for XP.BP and is much better than wasp in maps like zone where stability counts more than speed.

Overall Hornet is a better hull than Wasp IMO but it suits your playing style

Can't wait for the Wasp overdrive!

I've noticed lately that Wasp is much slower (I have an upgraded M2) than it once was. Before it was significantly faster than medium and heavy hulls, which made up for its lack in health. But now many of the medium hulls travel faster than I do (and almost every hull has a faster turn in battle!). I am concerned that I wasted my crystals on this hull when it now isn't a viable choice of hull in M2-M3-M4 battles. I also noticed that the Hornet seems much slower and is now a bad choice in battle. On the other hand, my Hunter seems more deadly than ever with good health, fairly high top speed, and awesome turning speed (far better than Wasp). I personally am not suffering too much from this strange nerf, thanks to my fully upgraded Firebird M2 and my Hunter M2, but I am worried about the direction this game is going: it is causing more and more players to start using medium and even heavy hulls (which are now a lot faster) due to Wasp and Hornet no longer being realistic choices in serious battle, making the gameplay dry and uninteresting.

You're right, Wasp is more of a fun hull rather than productive. (one can argue about the fun aspect now considering it isn't that fast anymore) The medium hulls are fast enough to do flag capturing too + the additional health.

Which is why you see them everywhere, medium hulls are allround and can cover T.O's simple gameplay

Wasp used to have 12.30 speed or something? Man it was absolutely freaking fast. Before the physics update you could flip yourself if you took corners too sharp; without the need of a recoil weapon lol.

My Wasp used to have about 12.25 speed before the update. Now it says 11.2.

Agreed.  But I'm not sure that the developers aren't aware of this.  The latest two turrets released are both anti-heavy tank turrets.  Splash especially is generally more effective on clusters of heavies and mediums.  Both Striker and Magnum have a functional delay that gives light hulls leeway- Striker's lock and Magnum's shell travel time.  In addition, lights are hard to target even with Striker's arcade because of the alternating shots.

One thing to make light hulls more aggressive is to take away the <loss of a kill> function that happens when you self-destruct ONLY from the Delete button.  This way players are less wary and cautious about charging in and potentially flipping.  The light-hull gameplay becomes enjoyable once more.

I agree. The developers have been informed of this, and they are trying to fix it. I personally, love light hulls. So easy to escape magnum, striker and to a lesser extent, railgun. Speed doesn't help much with freeze though. :(

Well, the mag splash dmg can get u sometimes.

Also wasp can be knocked off or flipped by rail. Or even one shot killed by rail.

I have to disagree. Just today I was playing my Wasp. I was shooting at a Magnum, knew it was unlikely to kill it before it turned and lobbed a shell my way. I popped a SU and moved away as fast as I could. Was stilll caught ion the gigantic splash radius. Since most magnums shells lang w/o this sort of warning it is very hard to say magnum is a heavy-hull killer. A light hull with 50% the HP as a heavy hull is going to go blooey but a heavy might not.

With striker it is even less true. I can dump a full salve into a heavy and it will live unless I have DD up and it does not have DA up. Since over 90% of combat is single-shot not salvo heavies take quite awhile to take down.  Now a light hull can escape the salvo yes, if it is the target of the laser. Butt we all know Striker;s problems with salvo.

I use Wasp / Vulcan and Hornet / Isida daily. Sometimes I use Hornet / Striker. So I have at least some idea of how these two light hulls behave.

I have been hesitant to say anything about Wasp because I know Vulcan is not at all near a common turret for this hull. To make things worse for months now I have had an m3 gun on an m2 hull. (MU_10 stuff) So I have a mis-matched recoil to hull weight thing going. So I have not said anything because part of my issues with Wasp are due to my unusual configuration.

But the differences between these two light hulls is getting to hard to ignore. Wasp has one advantage, that being slightly greater speed. But its acceleration is terrible. It doesn't drift but I see that as neither advantage or disadvantage, The killer though is Wasp tip over in a stiff breeze. Hornet can tip over too. but not nearly as easilly as Wasp.

I used to think that about a quarter of my deaths in Wasp were due t self-destructs from tip-overs.  Actually I wonder if the ratio is closer to half if you include enemy shots. Just about any weapon that hit from the side will cause or at least threaten a tip over. If I fire to the side I threaten a top-over. If I am going up a ramp (e.g.) firing to the side I tip over.  If I am ht white firing to the side it is a 99% chance for tip over.

Perhaps Vulcan makes the thing more top-heavy than other turrets. I do not know. But it is really hard to see how these two hulls are balanced. With my Isida I can maneuver at top speed through a maze of my teammates throwing out heals or dodging enemy fire. Acceleratoin and turning are crisp. With Wasp the slightest mistake and over I go.

I have not used Vulcan on a Hornet. Maybe it is just as bad. But after thousands of tip-overs the novelty is wearing off. It just seem Wasp should have some better capabilities WRT Hornet to make them both equally desireable.

Wasp and Hornet is better kept in xp/bp. Medium hulls have taken over their spot in non-pro battles. Sad really...miss the good old days.  ^_^
