Or.. you can do what I did, and MU Tundra to possibly more or as much as Digital's protection from Railgun. Unless he plays XP battles a lot, Digital may be the best choice...

How needed are paints? 

At lower ranks they protect only minimally against 1 or 2 turrets. Would it be better to wait for higher rank and get a better paint?

Yeah you are right :)

 

But having said that, it's a long way to go till you reach those ranks. Investing in one (maybe two) at a lower rank probably isn't a bad idea :)

I have storm.

I am saving for med m2 kit, will I need to buy another before that?

If so what would be good?

I use hornet and isida or shaft.

Storm is fine :p it has good protection from a turret

Should I get Cedar or Rustle, or splurge on Emerald in the near future. If I got one of the first two, I wouldn't buy Emerald 'til Gen or something.

forester is not a good paint :D

You  are wrong with forester+hornet m2 you can survive rail-gun m3 and I Micro upgraded my forester and I can survive rail gun m1 forester is very nice I down-voted your post  <_<

Forester... that is it.

 

Great paints until Major? 2 wonderful paints unlock at Captain: Digital and Spark. Tundra is probably the cost-effectiveness champ, and Electra is good if you dislike Isidas. Rustle unlocks at Major, and that paint is simply wonderful!

So i will probably get corrosion Then Electra Or Digital ( Depends if not Digital i will just get tundra instead) And then aim for rustle  ^_^

Am a Thunder Fan so I will probably get Thunder m2 Before Electra Or Digital Or tundra

So I will obviously need rustle ;)
