That is your opinion. However paints are often found in many "kits". I picked up my Dirty in an XL Starter Kit along w ith 2 other paints, 3hulls, and 3 turrets and 50ea supply, for only 8900 crystals. I would agree that just buying paints at full price is a waste. Kits may well be the best way to get them, at a steal, if the Kit contain enough items you want. Paints are an "extra bargain" in many kits.

As to using no paint till Captain, I doubt more than 5% of the people who have played this game have followed such a torturous route. Perhaps you did, but that was your preference. To forfeit some kinda of paint advantage is silly, especially as it is easy to tailor paints to certain kind of maps and certain game play styles. As it is, when I play a couple hours I might see one person with a "neutral" paint . The rest of them are using paints and all of them are well below the rank of major/captain. No paint may be the default option for a poor private on the first day, but generally people have paints in a short period of time.

I know a decent amount of players that havent used a paint untill some high rank. I personaly bought carbon just for the looks and bought a good paint at major general (emerald). This is just like with hulls and turrets - depends on what you appreciate more: surviving longer, or killing more. Of course, if the difference isnt large, youll invest a similar amount of crystald into both paint and tank/turret and hull.

The thing im saying is that dirty is not something you usualy see in battles and thats for a reason. The rail protection is garbage, cause even 20% doesnt help that much unless youre using a heavy hull. For the shaft protection, of course its good, 30+% protection always has to help, but even with that, not many players use shaft anymore (its one of the last m0's in my garage). I talked to a guy that was adoring shaft and he told me that its pretty much ruined so not a lot of players will use it anymore. Personaly its like hunters for me - i see them about 2 times every 1-2 weeks (i know its actually a great hull, at least at m3). But then again, its your crystals - your choices. IMO useful paints start with digital and spark.

forest for light hull at start

safari for isida user at start

they are the best deal that give clear advantage, one let you survive mu-ed rail m0 shot, one make your isida can eat other isida

In my opinion, paints are a waste until about Brigadier or Major-ish. There are always better paints compared to other ones (e.g: Prodigi and Digital, Clay and Spark, Inferno and Python, etc...) and it makes much more sense to save up for the best paint against a single turret rather than for an M2 or M1 paint.

I'm using Forester, and I don't think I'll switch any time soon. There isn't any need.

I used to have a Captian account, and I wasted so many crystals on paints over equipment. They really aren't worth it until Major and above, I would say.

WO pure protection paints are usually quite nice imo. I bought tundra at WO5 and i've used it ever since.

Most underrated low level paint is Dirty. It protects against the 2 weapons that deal the most damage per shot, rail and shaft. Rail is the most common weapon in the game and shaft is the deadliest.

One thing I think should be in all beginner advice guides. Is buy the XL starter kit , for 8900 crystals(at full price)   you get 3 paints that are extremely useful for a long time , dragon , storm and dirty , and cost 30k together. That kit also has a lot of hulls turrets and supplies.

I'll be using dragon and dirty for a long time, perhaps forever  as those 100K+ paints are exactly that, 100K+.

Maybe I'll find something new in a kit one day. :) . Till then I'll stick with Dirty, or dragon if there are too many rico's-(seems to be growing as a popular weapon)

There are too many paints around that stage with Twins protection. Spark, Urban, Emerald, Inferno. And Twins aren't even that common turrets. It annoys me a lot, I wish that the protections were changed.
