It's not necessarily better, since it's slower than M3 Hornet. I would personally prefer it, judging from my experiences on the test server.

Cuz Hunter unlocks late and is expensive... Hornet is easy to acquire so that's why everyone uses it, and so many people get good at it because of that reason, that it'd be useless to switch to another hull.

Viking is to expensive for most and besause it is inbetween viking and hornet (probably the 2 most common hulls in the game) most people find no need for it. It is also unlocked at a higher rank (at m3 and m1) but generally people would rather wait for viking to be unlocked and use that
