realistic expectations for rank and crystal income

I'm a sgt. now, about halfway to the next rank. Assuming I don't buy paints,  is it realistic to expect to earn enough crystals through gameplay to upgrade a gun or hull?

Yes, M1 easily.

You'll need patience to upgrade them to M3 though.

Absolutely. As you rank higher, the battle fund naturally goes up because of more kills and higher tanks generate a better battle fund.

Yes. When I was your rank, I was very worried about this. However, like others have said, the battle fund increases. Make sure that you go to the forum before buying a M1 weapon, because you can get a lot of good tips on what to get. Another tip is to always play in battles you have time for. Never play in the 999 kills battles if you don't have 4-5 hours for it.

However the cots go up as well, so relatively everything stays the same. At low ranks stuff costs 3k, and battle funds are 300, at my rank stuff costs 100k and battle funds are 10k, at high ranks stuff costs 250k so battlefunds are 25k, it's all relative.

I got an m1 firebird and im only a few ranks higher than u i strated saving up when i was a staff sergent for it so its really not that hard.

EDIT: I also got lead,richoet,titan,hornet,wasp,isidia and thunder which adds a few thousand more crystals nut ive only ever gotten 3 gold boxes

Play a two hours battle with persistence then you earn that amount if you're lucky, I know what he is talking about.

Its easy to make over 1000 crystals in 1 hour.

today - 807 crystals for 1000xp in 1 hour - 1st 15minutes had very little action - so 1000C/hour easi peasi like HP said. Just skill and fast reactions.

 

OP for real big C harvest (5000C like FaaiqBilal1 ^)- get to know 1 map real well - also use camera control.

Yea battle funds increase a lot from 50/60 cry for privates. And by 3rd leu it's around 600 normally. At higher ranks gold boxes tend to drop more often as well

Battle fund can vary at any rank. When I was in the Sergeant and early WOF rank group I found many battles with 15000 to 35000 battle fund. So just hunt for good battle fund battles and you should have your garage items upgraded in no time :-D

The next M is going to be cheaper than upgrading one stat of a gun/hull/paint to the max.

I don't think so, tanki was designed by the developers so that one would be able to have a decent garage by the time their generalissimo, without buying crystals or getting an income.
