Ricochet -- strategy suggestions?

 Share

Recommended Posts

Just bought ricochet. Previously, I was an exclusive railgun user, and I'm decidedly unhappy with my purchase at the moment. Any suggestions for strategy with ricochet would be greatly appreciated.

May I suggest you use the search engine for guides ( please search things before asking questions about them, at the least you're likely to find more in-depth answers.) , also there is another topic for Rico in this section, please post questions in there rather than creating a new thread preferablly. Hope this helps.

P.s. Don't pay any attention to the comment above me, I haven't got any experience with it myself, but they say it's not easy to master, but if you do it's as good as any.

Pps. Sorry if I sound a bit harsh.

You could, for example, go to the contests section, look for the contest titled: Best of Guides, click it and watch the Ricochet winner's video :D

Just looked at your profile and saw you were new here, may I recommend you read the rules, ( boring but if you skim-read them it would be wise) and definitely the FAQ.

(Not to say I'm not new myself, mind! I've just read the forum a great deal for the amount of time I've been on. ;-))

I searched this section to make sure I didn'tmiss something previously, and the only thread dedicated to rico was "let's discuss uncle rico" -- which has very little practical advice. That's why I posted this thread. My apologies if I missed something in another section, but I thought the Gameplay section would be the one I wanted.

Okay, I understand, it would have been better really, but fair enough. Glad you got help, :-) and maybe see you on the battlefield. (aarrhh! Another Rico in the battle!) :-) All the best.

Oh, btw if you go to the homepage of the forum and search ' guide rico' you might get some useful information. :-) wait, I tried it, and it didn't work, I'll see what I can find.

Yeah, instead of posting "search for guide rico or something," all the time, try and give him some advice. He's already posted he searched the forum and couldn't find anything practical. Cut that out.

Anyway, Ricochet is best with Mammoth or Titan because of its good HP; don't use Wasp because it may flip over. When I bought Ricochet, I wasn't too happy with my purchase either; the lack of plasma bullets don't make it a good turret in battle. It's best to aim for the lighter hulls; it will take more than your ammunition to take Titan+ out. (I might go as far as to say Viking too) Now, Ricochet M0 isn't particularly great, to be honest; however, if you can rustle up 24300 crystals before Warrant Officer 1 and you get good with the gun, you may find yourself beating a lot of people on the battlefield; at Ricochet M1, everything goes up by a notch or two. As obvious and clear as that may sound, it's a lot more distinct with Ricochet. But FOR NOW, I suggesting getting some alts or your friends on a private level and practice shooting them from different angles; using the environment as an ally is more or less what makes Ricochet. The only reason as to why you'd use the Ricochet+Wasp combo is because of getting to normally next-to-impossible places (parkour) and shooting from there.

Some videos which may help:

NOTE: This video may or not go against what I've just said; really, it's up to you.

Ah, remaine, no hard feelings, but he said he'd searched THIS section; and I'm not a rico player myself, so I either have to point him to guides and comments or shut up and let other people talk, the latter probably being the better now. ;-)

P.s. To be fair, though, I could have posted links.

Actually, you don't flip over when using Wasp, It's just ridiculously hard to shoot and balance yourself- not to mention you die quickly. I've only seen 2 enemy Ricochets using Wasp that are actually very good. The rest are just noobs who waste spots in battle to do parkour.

I've flipped over when I've used it and I've seen others; you DO flip over unless you can take advantage of Wasp's potential stability.

Rhat second video was great -- showed some really useful examples, thanks!!

Biggest things I see as a rico noob:

-- I'm used to long-range sniping with rail, but rico is no good for that.

-- I'm used to lining up a shot and shooting while stopped; rico is most effective when the tank driver stays mobile to avoid return fire.

-- Coming in close and then firing while retreating works well, but only if the enemy is distracted by your allies or if the enemy is just fleeing and not shooting back at you.

-- You need a hull with high hp to withstand opponents' fire while you get enough hits to take someone down.

For now, I'm going to stick with rail, but may give rico a try if I get a heavier hull like mammoth.
