At your rank it's very important to collect! Drive around and focus on picking up the boxes. Sometimes even join games for higher ranks. You only need 100 boxes to get a thousand crystals.

Drugging for normal boxes is counter-productive. Each supply costs 50 crystals, so only if you are sure you will collect at least 5 boxes, you can use 1 power-up. Even then, you don't gain anything, because you spend 50 crystals to pick up 50 crystals.

Polygon 200 kills isn't a long battle, it's a medium-short one. Although I guess it depends on what you usually play. I'd say 100 kills is a short battle, so a long one would be 500 kills upwards. Some CTF with no time limit (silly battle creators) last for hours on end, and the outcome is decided by the druggers who eventually come and ruin (or fix, depending on which side you're on) everything.

Ranks under WO1, Moon Silence DM - Freeze/Mammoth, camp on side ramp. At your rank boxes get you more crystals than the fund. Also, don't spam your crystals on lame paints (Only buy Forester, it will last you up to at least Third Lieutenant and beyond) and rubbish weapons/hulls, like Ricochet and Titan.

Its very important to spend crystals wisely, and not just chase all the different turrets and hulls.

Investing in turrets is fun, but in terms of crystal payoff for me at least hull upgrades have been a lot more important.

 

You need to practice too - battles start to get a lot tougher in the WO ranks as people start to upgrade...
