Nice poll. No, I do not buy crystals, but I can keep up with my ranks.

The advantage I believe they have is in Supplies. I may have an M2 combo as soon as I'm am high enough to buy it, and even get a decent paint, but I don't want to spend my hard earned crystals on Drugs.

i agree. the only drugs i ever have bought was 10 mines with another of my accounts

I really can't catch up with my rank without the help of buying crystals. I should've had Isida M2 by now. I am not even close to upgrading it. When I'm Second Lieutenant, I also would be very far away from upgrading Hornet to M2. When you get to higher ranks, modifications and paints get really expensive. I wonder how players manage without buying. For example paints like Zeus, Picasso and some M3s. They are like 250,000+ crystals. How would you get that without buying. :o

Probably the m1/m1 Majors are people that spend their crystals on useless stuff like 10 cheap paints and a lot m1 and don't save up for m2, yes I buy, but the only advantage it gives is that you can have more combinations on m3 (on my rank), if you don't buy but think before buying stuff and buy in sales, you can easily get your m2 m2 with a nice paint on major.

Winning contests is also a pretty easy way to gain crystals ;)

Also I don't buy drugs with crystals, and I only drug when there's pretty good fund and a chance of winning, so I don't drug if enemy has 3/4 Mammy/Twins on drug.

So I made this topic to see how many people buy crystals. It seems to me a lot of people I play against have expensive paints and turret/hull modifications, and sometimes I find it hard to compete with them. I bought crystals last week, but it will be a very long time until I buy crystals again (since I do not have a convenient way of buying them). Sometimes in battles I see First Lieutenants in a M2 combo with a 40K+ paint, like Rail/Hornet, while other times in the forum I see Majors posting screenshots of themselves in M1/M1 combos with Forester paint. Then, I will automatically think that the players with early M2 combos are buyers, and usually that could be the case. So, what do you guys think about this? I'm not saying that buying crystals is a cheap way of getting them, but I just want to know your opinions.

Haha, that first lieut could be a buyer but he could not be a buyer,I had Rail m3 on WO1 and Dic m3 on WO4 before rebalance while i was not a buyer. So do not say that they are buyers if you don't know if they are buyers or not, because some non-buyers feel than hurt.

I buyed once, but you just cant call me a buyer. Before rebalance and the graphics i bought some(idk that was very long long time ago) by SMS to get M3 rail on discount xD

At these days you can't even get M2 rail by sms buying. Or you will need a 1000 text messages.

I used to buy crystals for leveling up tanks and turrets. I spent the crystals I collected in the game for consumables. I don't pay into the game, anymore, for personal reasons. However, another player told me that it is possible to keep up with the upgrades without paying real world money. So, I created an account to see for myself.

I find it difficult to compete with players who pay into the game. They seem to have (almost) unlimited supplies. I don't buy supplies, anymore, and die more often than when I did. I hate being the one hit wonder...one hit and I'm dead from those who constantly use extra power. Many times I had thought that those who consistently use supplies throughout the game, are unable to play effectively without them. I have noticed that since I stopped paying into the game, my game play has changed dramatically. Playing without supplies, or a very limited supply of them, teaches you how to build skills and to hone them to a fine point.

You can compete without buying, buying just lets you have more combos.  I've bought a couple times because I was getting bored with current combos and getting a new combo can make the game fun again.  Now that I have a few different good combos, I never really get bored!

never bought anything! :D

I hate noob buyers who can buy loads of drugs yet not be able to use the tank very effectively but I don't find it difficult to face buyers ( but against druggers, yes)

You get tons of supplies by saving up, I have about 200 of each and about 50 aids (health packs).

That way you could drug a lot.
