Are you crazy? Critical hit for thunder... And about the 'loads' of protection paints against thunder, there are but when you reach Brigadier or higher more and more people buy other paints like Savanna or Urban, because then Twins and Smoky's critical hit get annoying so anti-thunder paints get less and less after that rank.

The Critical Hit is a special effect associated with Smoky, while Splash Damage is a special effect associated with Thunder. Due to those turrets having different and specific abilities, Thunder won't be given the Critical Hit ability and, for example, Smoky won't be given Splash Damage ability.
