Forum

Closing topics again pointlessly

 Share

Recommended Posts

This is a complaint about the forum and the super high rules there are.
Every topic has been closed in the general section minus a few , this is at the point of ridiculousness , Yes some topics are just spam maybe one out every 100 , but the rest should stay opened and not touched.Someone opens a topic about rating , 5 minutes later = thread closed , that pointless closing , not only was the question not answered but was denied.Clearly some mods are bored and have nothing to do but close threads.
Have you looked at other forums , some forums only close racist threads but leave everything else untouched.Majority don't even close anything. Also the rules are just ridiculous , let me give and example: Do not type in capital letter , OMG you might as well disable caps , another one.Do not write in size bigger than this. You should disable the size and not leave it as an option.Do not discuss in complaints section.Just get rid of the comment section there.

The last rule just makes me laugh.
Do not join the forum if under 16.
HAHAHAHA , if this forum is for 16 year olds why can't we post a topic without someone closing. Also why do we get a one months ban for a bad word. How does a bad word effect anyone. The funniest thing is the fact that no here is 16 years old , at least the majority is not.

So i honestly suggest getting rid of some rules , and the closing topic thing.

The under 16 rule will continue to be disregarded by everyone, so it seems.

And I genuinely do see your points regarding these rules.

These topics pop up every once in a while, and I agree with them

Except mods tend to simply point out that dumb rule where moderator's actions can't be discussed, and say that we should be "thankful" that we don't all get banned.

The only topics which they don't close are the ones which have a ton of views.I bet some mod will come and say go and post in the other topic , even though they a re closed.

Learn to cope with people , like people who care about what other people say are generally getting bullied , if you can't deal with it just ignore it.I don't really care if you start rubbing the fact that my great grandma died at 97 like 3 days ago , makes absolutely no difference , you can say to me anything you like , i don't really care at the end of the day.Majority of people who cry about people saying bad words are 5 years old noobs which just mess up games with there noob powers and cry about everything.

Learn to deal with it.

I came across this on the feedback site today which was posted a couple of months ago.

"Hi, In the English section of the forum, the moderators close down too many topics, too fast. I personally think it's killing the forum. The forum is a public place for people with the same interest to converse thoughts and ideas. The aggressive manner in which the moderators close down topics for no reason at all really does kill conversation. I personally think that this is off putting. I haven't visited the forum for many months, hoping that it would have changed in the mean time but it hasn't! This is sad for tanki!"

"This has already been discuss with the staff. Topics will not get closed so fast as long as nobody's breaking any rules and the discussion stays on topic"

My reply - still awaiting moderation (and will probably never get published)

"There was a short period when things improved with regard to topics being closed too quickly. Sadly, the urge to lock threads almost as soon as they appear has once again resurfaced and killed conversation.  There is little point of looking at the forum when all you see is a column of padlocks. Totally killed it. Improvement is needed if you want people to engage each other. "

Couldn't agree more and welcome to tanki's black list of unwelcome, ungrateful criticisers.

Next time there is a spot for becoming a reporter, surely apply. No sarcasm, but I think you should surely be accepted.

Maybe he would, but I wish him to be patient, hardly think someone will leave soon, and even if someone leave I don't think we will open applications right after that : we are already more than enough :)

Some noobs just need to learn how to do things like post in Questions and Answers, instead of creating new topics.

Agree with you that too many topics are being closed, though.

A new section called 'Locked' should be made where they move all locked topics (except staff topics) to, so that the list won't be flooded.

Just move the thread no need to trash the place even more by closing.

Too many topics are closed too quickly.

On the subject of bad words - many posts contain the most obscene language and no action is taken. Language that is not acceptable in a daily newspaper is not acceptable on our forum.

Please note that this post does not discuss  moderator's actions.

They close topics because they are Trolls, spam and unneeded topics. So if you create a topic that is needed and is not a troll or Spam, then it won't be closed. Also read the Rules and you won't have a problem with your topic being closed.

Well thats what they want you to believe but majority are not spam.Keep in mind the topics are still there open or not.

So it has to be "needed" does it?  The result of that logic means that anything that isn't deemed needed can and will be closed. Sometimes players want to simply discuss some aspect or other that might be considered by some to be irrelevant or, (that overused word in these forums), pointless.

3. - It is also prohibited to create new forum threads and posts that:

3.1. - Deal with issues recently discussed and/or questions whose answers are contained in the standard help information (Rules, FAQ, Plans and so on). Please use Search to find answers to your questions. Be attentive and make sure you look through the existing threads before making a new one. Remember, your reluctance to use other people's written experience works against you. Long-time forum members are tired of seeing new topics with the same old questions. So don't be surprised if your thread is locked or deleted, and you receive a warning;

Encouragement is what is needed, not prohibition. Tanki needs to relax a little and lessen their grips on players throats. eg/ if someone posts a question like, "Where can I find a list of ranks in the game", don't go mad and issue warnings, delete or lock the topic. Staff don't need to interject unless the op is given bad advice by others. The forum will look after itself to a certain degree so read it and move on if it's not for you.  The forum isn't just for "Long-time forum members". Moderation is good in moderation. Too many rules restrict what posts can and can't be discussed. Go beyond the confines of these limitations and you get banned.  Get banned for something trivial and you stop contributing and buying.  Not good for the player and not good for tanki.

And while I'm ranting, :P , these wannabe mods who are not staff, who enter any given topic to just post "pointless topic" or "close this topic" because they can't identify with it should be given, in my opinion, negative reputation at the very least. Stop acting like mods. You know who you are! Earn your brownie points in a positive way for a change!

You simply don't make the right topics or have a stupid idea. If you do research and you have a good story with good arguments, your topic will stay longer. I've had 2 ideas, made topics for them, written down a lot of words. These 2 ideas both have 4/5 pages. Good discussions were held in there. So I think there are a lot of pointless topics and a topic with no arguments and just 1 sentence with 'I want..' won't exist long of course. Maybe there should be a FAQ how to post a good topic.

On the other hand, the general section got a bit of useless now. It was for 'tips, ideas, suggestions'. Now we have to write down our idea on feedback so what are we supposed to post on general?

Interesting. The General Content structure just had a revamp and that was welcome but I think you're right. More changes would be beneficial. I don't know about you but I think that if sub-sections are permitted, in the way Forum Games is a sub of Off Topic, then a solution might go something like this...

General (anything tanki including screenshots, videos etc)

- Off Topic (eg/ What movies do you like)

- Forum Games (eg/ Name a city using the last letter of the last city)

- Popular Topics (When a topic becomes popular, move it here - eg/ photo of the day)

FAQ (What is... How do I... Where... etc)

- Problems & Solutions (Technical problems, loss of crystals and experience points.)

Violators (Here you can complain about cases of breaking the rules of the game.)

Gameplay (Discussion of turrets, hulls and maps.)

If you can't give a section a one line explanation then there is something wrong and amendments are required.

If you don't have a proper structure then you don't have proper rules!

For gods sake shut up and look at other forums

Criticism is one thing, contributing and suggesting solutions is too, getting angry and telling folk to shut up is another.  That's an invitation to shut this topic down right there.
