^Don't know about any, but where i live the normal temp is +40oC and my laptop is on for straight 12 hrs. The only thing i do is use it in Air conditioned room.

I kept mine on bed  (it blocks the hot air from escaping) in 40 degrees but in air conditioner, my RAM blew up .-.

What's the point of that?

Anyway, constantly getting messages from Norton saying "High memory usage: Chrome", when I'm not actually doing anything "memory-consuming" (i.e. playing).

I don't see how other open programs can add to this, so...?

^ Norton?

I had Kaspersky before.

Norton was cheaper, and I don't want to spend too much money on this piece of metal.

^Yep agreed, Norton does that very often

But i would suggest AVG in place of MSE, AVG is lot faster and better. It also has scan settings about how much computer resources do you want it to use,i.e if you are working you can set it to BASIC, which means it will use low computer resources and it will scan slowly, letting computer give priority to your work. :)

So you can scan your computer and work without interruption at the same time (unlike most Anti-Viruses)

I suggest BitDenfender of all the anti virus system it does scans automatically and you can set stuff up so it automatically does things the scans scan all components of your computer. In addition to this it has a game mode which helps your computer process the game easier.

^ you may need to post this on the forums of these games, but here's the quick answer ... yes you will be able to, but not at max graphics... OC'ing will only improve fps lightly, but graphics will still suck ..

hmmm,, i've been someone who used enterprise editions of AV for a long time (namely McAffee) and, about 3 years ago I adopted MSE for my laptop ,, i'm yet to make a complain !!

having the microsoft tag on it, it may sound like a crappy software,, but surprisingly MSE works fine, like the xbox, the only 2 thing they done right :D

No need to get any antivirus. just get Arch linux like me! no windows virus will ever work in linux...OR whenever you get a virus just identify its process and disable it from services instead...

its just my opinion anyways

Some people might not even know what linux is, how to install it.

I personally like linux.

All security software provides protection against more than just AV.

Would you leave your doors unlocked because you live in a low crime area?

Well i tried it once,  didn't worked well for me, and like you said having Microsoft tag on it, it truly sounds crappy :D

oh and forgot to add,, its the most hassle free AV software you'll ever get ;)  + its "free" for all genuine windows users (vista and onwards)

Have to agree with this, its true (Unfortunately :()

And just as a help for users who are confused with what anti-virus to use:

true that..but installing an antivirus doesnt work out most of the time as i have often found out  :( coz the first thing that a virus does is try to disable your anti virus atleast thats what happened with me.

Installing a good antivirus is essential and will include firewalls plus anti- phishing, ( the act of attempting to acquire information such as usernames, passwords, and credit card details and sometimes, indirectly, money).

How do you protect against Root Kits if you have no AV?

I use Kaspersky - #2 on bobmax 's link list above - sure don't pay 38.39 for it.

Locking your doors may not always work - that doesn't mean u leave them unlocked. :)

Well only some HUGE complicated TROJANS and WORMS do that(try to disable AV first), not normal viruses. Normal viruses just come in and target your files, AV is there to stop them
