Game Freeze

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am running Win 7 Ultimate with 16GB RAM and an Intel i7 1.87 GHZ with acceerator to 2.6 on XPS L701.

Recently (over the past 3 or 4 weeks) the game has been freezing causing me to power off the machine in order to restart it. Upon restart I have issues about 30% of the time and have to go through a series of power down and restarts before it starts working properly again. There is no way for me to get a system dump or any other pertinent information that I can think of based on the sequence of events. This has happened across a number of different maps. (Kungur, Silence, Silence II)

If u have any suggestions on how to capture info feel free to send them to me. I'm a technician/developer so u won't have to hold my hand...   I hope!!   LOL

Please go to the if you have computer problems, Computer Help Centre Topic here on tanki forum your problem will be solved quick. We have some great helpers there.

As for your problem are you able to minimize the window when this occurs? Do you clear your browser cache(ctrl+h)? Do you turn off certain settings when you lag? Do you try refreshing the page? You clear your hard disk (Disk Clean up)(Disk De fragment)?

If you have done all this and you have to still shut down your computer than go to the computer help centre topic for further instructions as i do not know whats wrong. 16 GB of ram is alot and should be able to run the game.

I get this problems once or twice every couple weeks no worries i just refresh and it works.

Only other reason i can think of is you might not have an integrated circuit or graphics card which makes this game really hard to play!!

Reading the instructions in the following links will help you optimize for best performance:

How do I raise my FPS?

How to clear your browser cache

How do I clear the cache of my Flash-Player?

"Options" button

To run Tanki Online as a separate application

But I assume you know all that, so it's of little help.

Maybe something is cramming up your registry, so try to clean it if you can. And of course scan your computer.

Best solution is to wipe it clean and reinstall your operating system - I do that every 3 months for tip-top performance.

why on earth would you wipe you operating. just clean your documents and everything up maybe it just a problem and u might need a integrated circuit or graphics who knows. Maybe he just needs to refresh who knows. until we can fully grasp the problem it is hard to understand why this is happening. maybe his fps is too low

WOW! Thanks for the quick responses....

Just to add...  I am running an NVIDIA GeForce GT 445M with 1 GB of on board memory, Run game in Chrome. I seem to be running at 60 FPS on average. I do run a little hot so I have a cooling board under my machine. I don't get any indications that the issue is heat related.

There is no indication in the event logs why the machine freezes; just that it had an unexpected shutdown after the fact. I cannot move the mouse or use the keyboard after this event. I have let the machine sit for about 15 minutes just to see if it would unwind by itself.

I have run a full scan with TDSSKiller with no issues. I run MalwareBytes Pro full scan at least once a week and have no issues. I am also running MBAMs real time protection. The only intrusions I see from MBAM is Skype; never anything from your site.

I have cleared the Flash Player cache and Chrome cache. I had to use control panel to access the Flash settings panel. I set storage to unlimited.

I am sure Chrome worked because it reinitialized the game and forced a fresh login.

I modified the game settings to turn off Fog and Shadow. Adaptive FPS was already off. I wasn't sure what effect MIP-Mapping would have so I left it on.

If I hit this error again I will gather as much information as possible and post it. If I do not encounter the error I will post back in a week.

PS: The only error I saw in the event logs was... "The following fatal alert was generated: 40. The internal error state is 107." I am pretty sure this is caused by Outlook throwing some kind of a certificate error while trying to sync all my mail accounts and although it sounds ominous it actually doesn't have any ill effect on the machine.

Thanks again for your help!!!!

For Adaptive FPS, some people has delay in commands, for example, if you click up, your tank will move up after seconds, not instantly, so Adaptive Fps doesn't allow that, however i turn it off because it slows my fps by 40.

When compiling a SWF file, you set a specific frame rate for the movie. In a restricted environment with a low CPU rate, the frame rate sometimes drops down during playback. To preserve an acceptable frame rate for the user, the runtime skips the rendering of some frames. Skipping the rendering of some frames keeps the frame rate from falling below an acceptable value.

P.S. For players who do not have this problem, enabling adaptive fps will only make things worse.

check recent software instals bad driver perhabs , remove the battery from laptop and power source and leave it for a few good minutes , swap the ram modules between slots or use one module a few hours and then the other try to rule out any hardware issues but since its a laptop all comps in one bord seem less likely to be hardware related but never know , try to revert to a older restore point of windows wich was in a period u know system was stable, try a window repair disk , and if all fails do a fresh install of windows, but in general BSOD's (blue screen of death) are software related

Hi All,

Thanks for all the help and suggestions.

I have done everything from above except for the regen of my machine....   LOL

All the strange errors in my event viewer are definitely from Outlook not being able to negotiate a connection with the MS server for all my mail accounts.

I believe the issue is HEAT...   I'm running an i7 1.87 GHZ chip with an accelerator which can push to 2.66 GHZ. while the game is running. I'm not sure exactly what's making the machine heat up during game play but the case starts glowing RED....   just kidding. It could be an issue with the internal fans but does not seem to be software.

All the settings changes I applied have helped during game play and actually seem to make the game run faster and the machine run hotter. I spend half my time working on an IBM Z Series mainframe. Is there any way to port the game to that platform so I can take advantage of the speed without the heat? just kidding.....

I will continue to monitor this and try to determine the exact cause. I will post back with any info.

Thanks again for all the help...

Hi All,

Found a bunch of posts where Flash 11 was having freeze issues because video drivers could not handle something Adobe did. FIGURES...

Running a GForce GT445M.

I found a driver update and applied it about 5 days ago. Have not had the issue since.

I also dismantled my my laptop and cleaned all the fans etc.

I don't seem to be heating up as quickly any longer. This is an issue because I was hoping to play the game and heat my house through the winter.....

JUST KIDDING!!!

If the issue returns I will post back with any new findings.
