As far as I have gone and with the players I've played with and enemies I've seen:

 

At these last levels, 90% of your enemies are Mammoths and Titans, and unfortunately, usually they have Close Range Weapon protection, (Firebird, Freeze, Isida) so it depends for M3's.

 

 

M0: Ricochet.  It's quite over powered, works well.

M1: Railgun.  Millions and millions (Slight exaggeration :3) of M0 Hornets running around for one-shotting purposes :P. 

M2: Thunder/Smoky.  Either are great, both powerful, Smoky a little more so.

M3: Ricochet/Twins/Smoky/Firebird.  All four of these are very awesome.  Get your hands on any of them and you'll be ruling.

M4: Thunder.  85-115 Damage = Average = 100 = On 2x Damage 1 shots M3 Hornets, 2 Shots M3 Vikings, 3-4 Shots M3 Titan, 4-5 Shots M3 Mammoth.  Reload = 2.5 Seconds flag = insane firepower.  Example? http://prntscr.com/70xg15

And by the way, this attitude of "No best gun" is really a bunch of hot air.  There is definitely a fact of the Top 3 in each Modification, example: everyone knows M3 Isida is NOT even close to the Top 3 (Here comes the Isida cult).  Each modification has a Top 3 sometimes a Top 2 that you can guarantee is going to pawn no matter what.  So, the guy who's using M2 Railgun (Very underpowered) is going to rank very slow, get horrible numbers in battle, and if you use a DP to 1 shot tanks is wasting them when you could get 5x the amount of kills-per-DP with Thunder or Smoky.  See? There is always logic involved.  With Railgun M2, your reload is 7 seconds, a DP lasts for 45 seconds.  This means if you HELD the spacebar, and you never let off and there where enough tanks/you survived, you could kill a maximum of 6 tanks.  With a 100% Score Multiplyer that is only 120 EXP.  Now, take you M2 Thunder and head to Polygon, one DP can yield easily 12 kills not to mention many are more because they are in the pit and you get injure points.

 

To sum it up, just look at what the older players are saying and try to use one of the recommended Turrets because there is for a fact, always a Top 3 for each modification.  Some things are just not good at certain levels...

No contest railgun, when i maxed it out with MU's i was ALWAYS the top of the leaderboard in CTF but now with the M2 rail things are getting rusty, especially with sandstone everywhere i cant perform as well -__-

The best guns are almost always the ones that unlock the latest (or are the most expensive), so:

 

M0: Ricochet

 

M1: Twins / Thunder

 

M2: Smoky

 

M3: Firebird / Ricochet

 

But in a lot of cases the best weapons come from those who USE them the best. You could have M3 Firebird and still get your butt kicked by a skillful M0 Ricochet, or M1 Thunder :P
