Is Thunder really that bad at higher ranks

you are right...this is just m1 thunder...which btw is considered to be overpowered on those ranks!

So..since i'm going to upgrade for first time tomorrow my thunder to m2 modification...i will post a feedback of my first impressions as soon as possible! :D

That's still not as high as the rank you're arguing about, this topic is asking about thunder m3 ranks and up, thunder m2 is still very good at ranks below brigadier.

Well...i have played thunder m3 only on test server...and it seemed very powerfull since it has a much faster fire rate but... that's certainly not enough experience on a turret to have a solid opinion on it. I guess i will have to see it in its m3 modification as well...which btw is not that far from my rank...and i'm sure that my crystals will be enough for m3 once i get to brigadier rank. The thing is..and i'm just realising that...i was talking about thunder from my own experience, which is a lot on ranks until about Major....so pretty much my opinion has nothing to do with this topic BUT....still, there is a balance in game so i believe that my opinion about thunder (which so far is THE BEST), wont change at higher ranks. The only thing left is to bring you a proof guys! So you be sure that it will  be soon!

I am playing with mammoth m2 + thunder m3 + protection paint against thunder 32% + freeze 20% + isida 10%

And I must say, I feel that thunder is very week in high levels, especially when you are playing against marshalls and generalismos

Twins m3 is overpowered. If there will be a rebalance again, i will not buy anything. I will just watch for a while and stay in stand-by and decide what to buy

Upgrades get worse power-wise but it's not ALL about power.

Actually, if you see, most weapons M2-M3 upgrade doesn't do much effect than the one from M1-M2. If you see, most weapons become powerful at M2 (shaft is bit better at M1). Also, even with MU, smoky chance of critical won't be really that much, only 1% for every weapon. So yeah you are still safe. But the fire rate will be problem.

I don't quite understand why the thunder is being looked down upon.It is a wonderful turret that brings nothing else but get you to the top in battles and just brings more crystals into your pocket.I love the splash damage that it brings.The most kills I got in one shot was a quadruple kill in combe.They didn't see it coming and were completely obliterated.My team wins because of the thunder's efforts to deliver its package...death.

I promised i would update my experiences with thunder at higher ranks...someone said that thunder is useless against higher ranks...well....there is no higher rank than Gissmo...look what i've done to them with m2 thunder.

They had 2 emerald painted tanks (one was m3 mammy freeze) and one rustle...if i managed to stay on top and win such battle with m2 thunder...well...i can just imagine what would happen with m3! muhahahaha :P

And again, other parts of other weapons AND hulls will be increased.  Listen, if smoky's firing rate is increased 50% and a hull's armour is increased 50% then you won't have much difference.

False. This will give smoky a huge advantage. Did you forget about more opportunities for critical hits? 50% increased firing rate = 1/3rd more crits than usual, on TOP of the 50% more damage over time from non-crits.

 

 

Question: I am very unsure as to whether or not I want to upgrade Thunder from M0->M2, or purchase M2 Smoky. I find both very enjoyable to use.

 

-Smoky is 'exciting' because it can save you at the last second during emergency situations, and provide those EPIC wins. It also allows me to enjoy more 'action-packed' situations, because it is still very effective at close range. Its wonderful in CTF mode even when facing druggers due to its crits as well.

-Thunder is fun for me because (btw I only have ever used m0 thunder on an alt account) I use it with a light hull, and have mastered its ability to use splash damage. Ground shots by rocking your tank in the appropriate manner really make it fun. Harder braking for close range ground shots - hitting people behind walls - and less braking and perfect timing of ground shots to enemies of 40m+ who think they are protected by cover. Its really fun mastering the timing and seeing their reactions when you shoot the ground next to them from long distances and they die.

 

A little about me: I hate facing teams full of druggers. I think I would feel helpless against them if I purchase m2 thunder. Smokys crits on the other hand could catch them off guard and crit them right before they use their health pack, and saving the day. I also enjoy light hulls, because I can be much more strategic with my gameplay. I do not drug very often, but when I do, I want to make it count. I currently own M2 freeze and M2 isida. The rest of my items are M1. (Almost full m1 garage) I own Electra and Tundra paints. I have 150k crystals to spend.

 

I am considering the following:

M2 Smoky, M2 Thunder, M2 Wasp, M2 Titan, M2 dictator.

 

I am currently leaning towards Smoky + wasp or titan. I fear that Smoky may be nerfed in the future though? I also fear that 50% of players at Brigadier or higher will have Smoky protections and it will be far less useful. Is this prediction probable?

Dear friend..for your information...before those late joined Gissmos, there were other Gissmos(all of 'em), who just gave up cause they saw their team was not gonna win....and i can assure you that we didn't caped even 1 flag before we made sure we were 4vs4 (just look at the fund..for god's sake)....so plz don't misinform anyone just cause you don't believe what you see....especially when you weren't there! If you still don't believe me...you can PM DiStail who was the first place player from the other team and ask him (also...there were other players..spectators..who were watching this battle...and i know all of 'em...so they can assure you as well)...OMG...and what do you mean that the gissmos from my team were defending...LMAO...do you really believe that 2 m2 tanks could steal a flag from 4 m3 gissmos??? O_o....think before say anything pointless...Thanks anyway.
