Beginning of Battle (Controlled Start)

A few of you may have seen this on feedback or in joost's topic, but I decided I'd make a post about it (since few of you visit feedback) to get players opinion and support (what I should have done before i posted it on feedback).

 

On feedback:

There are issues in battles like XP (hornet/rail), clan wars, and No supply's battles in general, people either start early when teams are not even, or someone is not in the perspective base. These type of things ruin XP battles, NSB's and cause an argument in clan wars.

So a solution to both problems would be a "controlled start". When the battle/teams are full and everyone has loaded, each player would signal (in someway) that they are ready. (not verbally in chat) Once every player has signaled, everyone respawns, then battle begins. Any attempts at killing/taking flags wont work prior to the start. It could be an option for all gamemodes, so battles could still do without a controlled start, like DM's. If a player has not signaled in a timely manor (say within  5 minutes of him joining?) the player is kicked from the battle. And of course no one can be killed, no flags can be taken prior to the start. In the case of someone leaving the battle, players will signal a reset, this in which a majority rules. (in verbal terms: "Stop!")The battle will stop (players respawn?), then the signaling process will start over when the battle is full. 

 

I think this would be a great addition for the game for anyone to use, not specifically for the different battles I've mentioned...

In joost's topic:

What if there was a way to better control the start of the battle?  Maybe have it where every player must enter a command to say that they're ready. Once every player has signaled, everyone re spawns and the battle begins. Again, not only for XP, this could be good for almost any battle. Especially NSB, like for clan wars. And there would be no argument over someone not being at their perspective base. That solves two potential problems. Think I might be takin' this to feedback.

 

So lets discuss! Please stay on topic and if you do not like the idea, please state it in a civilized manor.

 

To Clarify what I mean by "reset": consumed supplies, dropped boxes, taken flags are reset. Ones score would stay the same

Yep a very good suggestion...but im not sure that the mods will do something like this because it will cause wastage of time in normal battles...if a match consists of 20 players (10-10) many people will not give the command to start just to irritate others..So its a bit  :wacko:  :wacko:  :wacko:

While creating the battle it self we would have the option if its a controlled battle or a normal battle. Not every battle needs to be a controlled battle.

If someone doesn't give command, he will be kicked within 5 minutes.

The idea is amazing. 

 I didn't get this part, can you elaborate.

In the case of someone leaving the battle, players will signal a reset, this in which a majority rules. (in verbal terms: "Stop!")The battle will stop (players respawn?), then the signaling process will start over when the battle is full.

What joostcool described was in a battle I was too, so I know the frustration. I think there should come a solution to that problem.

A few things I'm wondering though.

- What if the score is 9-3 til 10 flags and someone from the losing team leaves? Will everyone stop and wait (more players might leave, or no one joins) or can they cap the last flag and just start a new game?

It happened to me when the enemy had one flag to go and my teammates left. The enemy wanted to wait, but I asked them to finish.

- Gold alarm goes off, one player leaves, game then stops, what would happen then?

- Players are joining to do a take-over, the team that is being taken over can all start refreshing in turns to make the game stop and thus avoid the take over. I know take-overs are less common in ns battles, but they still happen.

I didn't get this part, can you elaborate.

To elaborate I'm going to use XP battles again as an example; Commonly in these kind of battle, when one player leaves, the battle stops because one team is down a player giving the other team the upper hand. So players wait for teams to fill up making it equal in terms of people. But sometimes after people say to stop after a player has left, people still shoot, kill, take flag, etc. So to keep that from happening, people could request a recent (stop in battle). Totally optional. And instead of everyone having to request, the majority has to.

 

Is supporting the idea as i do before in my old Topic. OK, no need for users give command, when all players in battle, battle will start in (maybe) 30 sec.

I could agree, it would take longer to type it out as well. But the flaw in what you're saying would be mults and players that have not yet responded after loading. So then the controlled start would be pointless because someone could be unresponsive. Having a start like this could make sure of a fully aware team that is ready to battle.  Maybe there could be a button to push to signal someone is ready?

-The reset for the battle would be optional. People don't have to signal the reset if they want to finish the battle.

-Would once again be up to the players. They would probably want to go through with going for gold :P

-Hmm that might be a downside. But hopefully, people that would like and play this option would be good enough players to not cheat to a safely won battle like that. So less take overs might not be a bad thing to some people, but abusing it by refreshing wouldn't be good. There is the fact that the majority have to signal, so people could just keep going if there is just continuous absences in the team.

hmm, I totally agree, but you knew that already I guess. Now in some way I can only think about XPbattles and not NSbattles. Maybe because I did not have such a situation in NS. So I can't imagine coopers 3rd point, since this won't happen in XP. Anyways, there will be small problems.

1. What someone else said. If a player leaves (so unequal teams) the game stops. Now I have different views on it, so I will try to explain them in different points.

1.1 clanwars. It won't work if a player leaves that the whole game will respawn. The teams/clans have to keep fighting. Now I did not even talk about the possibility to reset the score. (unacceptable in clanwars ofc.)

1.2 Here it is resetting the score what causes a problem for me since the losing team wants to restart. To make it easier I would not give this as an option. Just let them move on with where they stopped. Otherwise you make it too complicated.

 

2 this is the best oppurtunity for trollers to troll. Going in battle, starting, leaving (letting them wait) and redo this.

 

My 2nd point is not that strong.

Anyways, I really support this idea, thumbs up. Too bad i can't do that on mobile phone :p

First I think in need to clear up what I first meant by "reset" ; Supplies that might have been used, dropped boxes, taken flags and players are respawned. It wouldn't affect the score. (Like in XP, when people stop after someone has left they usually wait, until they feel no one will come, then they leave the battle to reset score)

 

 

Sorry I didn't clear it up until now, but what you said reminded me to, so thanks. -_-  Hopefully what I just said fixed you views on how the reset works

1.1: The whole option of stopping the battle would be option. And for the clan wars, requesting the option to reset could be banned, and if a reset happens, consequences could come from it because it could be a way of gaining an advantage.

1.2 : Kind of the point of keeping the score, sure the losing team wants to restart, but at least it will get them a fair chance at getting the battle going again with a full team.

 

2: Lol I know. Hopefully the battles are desirable enough that people play them legitimately and legitimate players vote out the trolls. :P

This is not so easy solvable. Mult still can 'push button' and then do nothing as usuall.  :angry:

omg the whole pint of a CTF match is to get the flag and score it while working as a team to get it no matter who gets it. the goal is to capture as many flags as possible

1.the tanki online developers are in the process of already making it possible to use in game garage. plus stopping a match because the teams are uneven thats just dumb. Just play on and defend as long as you can sooner or later someone will join and help you:

1.1. This is a weird thing to say doesn't make sense at all but what should happen is that there is a clan or team war option that you can select and you select a certain set up that you have chosen for the war. Example light mode no supplies.

the time for this should stop if a player leaves to get a new weapon but they should have to enter a command before leaving and must leave within 10 seconds of making command or time doesn't freeze. it is unfroze when someone else joins or the player returns.

1.2. leave the scores alone jsut play the game it is fine as it is

 

Result from me.....i do not report this point but i am not going to give it a thumbs down since there is no point. I never supported your idea in the first place and it was closed which is what should happen here also because this is a repeat topic

You didn't support it because you can't relate to it. And that's fine, but others are relating to it. What I've suggested is different from what joost had. Our motives to find a solution to some problems may be the same, but mine concerns the game play, his concerns combinations. Anyways, thanks for the constructive criticism.
