Defense in Tanki Online

The best Defense for a team of 10 would be 3 Freezes, 2 Izzys, One Rail, 2 Thunders, 1 Firebird, 1 Shaft.

Shaft- Sneaky Position, Gets the first shot at hurting/killing an enemy Trespassing.

Firebird- Goes after the Flag Stealers after they run away from Freeze. (Uses the After Burn to kill if he Escapes)

Freeze- Freezes up the enemy until extra help arrives. (Defense, Offence)

Thunder- Creates Slash Damage for those hiding enemies behind walls, and/or helps the rail with long-ranged action.

Izzys- They don't attack, only stay at their Base and heal wounded Tanks. (Works well in Defense as well)

Railgun- Sneaky tank creeps behind walls and with its power kills/Hurts enemies Drastically. Works as well in Offence as Defense.

Still learning the ropes, but it seems to me a good mix of weapons and hulls balances a team nicely.  The key thing I have observed so far is teamwork.  When players work together they become deadly.  Lots of team healing from the Isidas, overwatch cover from the shaft, the close in kills for the freeze, firebird and twins players, and the all round nastiness of the smoky, thunder and railgun firepower.  When you have a 10 strong team with a decent mix of that working together your gonna take some names.  Conversely, when half your team seems intent on ramming each other, blowing each other away or shooting at you just to put you off I think it/s better to bug out and play a different match.  A team like that sucks so bad it's lost before the 1st round goes down range.

What about Sandbox?

If people defending were Generalissimo and crystals were no problem...

1 Isida-Dictator-Prodigi

1 Freeze-Hornet-Prodigi

1 Rail-Mammoth-Picasso

1 Smoky-Hunter-Prodigi

Well...

Smoky-Mammoth-Inferno=Defend

Thunder-Wasp-Prodigi=Attack/Flag Caping

Freeze-Hornet-Needle=Attack/Defend/Support

Railgun-Viking-Prodigi=Attack/Support

The total badass set up right here :P

Reason:

Smoky and Mammoth is a great/overpowered set up that works really well on small-big maps. It's range is perfect+random critical hits make's it a deadly defender.

Thunder-Wasp=Fast,small body, fast fire rate (After MU),high damage at close range and capable of dodging shots make's it a deadly fast flag caping tank!

Freeze-Hornet=Perfect at defending flags and driving circles around a slower tank make's it a perfect attack/defend and support! Slowing down foes that could effect the score and making it harder for enemies to capture a flag is obviously the choice for defending experts!

Railgun-Viking=With it's high damage,it is your priority to use that high damage on enemies that you think that may effect the score. The best support/attack set up out there! (My opinion)

For Sandbox 4v4 CTF:

1 Twins-Mammoth-Inferno=Stay in base and destroy all enemies coming from the closest side and from the top.

1 Freeze-Dictator-Savanna=Cripple/destroy all threats, guards other side, occasional attack.

1 Railgun, Thunder-Dictator-Emerald=Deals heavy damage to multiple attackers, hangs in back to save health, ocassional support for attackers.

1 Firebird-Hornet-Emerald=Last resort to destroy cappers, occasional attack.

My gosh people... you all under-rate Shaft massively. Its power is not to be under-judged. Shaft is a great defender.

Shaft is terrible in CTFs (not to mention it's terrible anyway now), that's why.

Not in maps where there arent many ways to infiltrate the base. Such as the blue team in silence, get a bunch of good shafts and you'll never lose. :D

How about a bunch of Freezes/Isidas instead? Not to mention that both of them can actually move, and see when the flag is being taken (unlike Shaft in scope mode) :P

Any more than 4 Rail M1+ in a team shooting at the exact same place is OP; even more annoying in TDMs when they're all getting a bit of the bounty for so much as touching the enemy.

10 Freezes are just annoying, go in there with Firebird and Mammoth and you should be able to boom them in no time

2 titan and freeze and ur ok because one can rely on the other if he or she is down. Also, 2 isida are good, one can remain flag point most of time so if team mates need healing they know where to go. Aswell as this there should be around 1 or 2 firebird preferably m2 or over at the middle section of map, taking out druggers coming or anyone coming towards the flag because the burning effect can last good before enemy gets to the freeze to stop him.

I've stated rouhly 5/6 positions important for a good protection, leaving the rest of the 5 players on a average 10v10 map to focus on getting flag. Thunder is good to use as long as ur careful to make sure no one blocks it you so u end up shooting and damage urself.

A railgunner would b nice, maybe one or 2 or even one sniping off enemies making it easier for the flag capturers on their own side.

Anyway that's what I think I hope it helps
