If you want minotaur then you need buy its alteration to remove self damage also.

if you want a good kit for getting flags and kills, save up for the avalanche kit. If you want to get a lot of experience, save up for the stinger kit.

Save up and rank up to Warrant Officer 3. Then you can obtain all the items in Unicorn and Boxer without spending a single penny. This may be a tiresome for you and it will take some time b ut it will be worth it if you stick to your goal.
