You don't care about grammar and slang? Since English is not your first language either, you won't understand that "slang" is very unprofessional, especially in the "official" newspaper.

E.g. "Every single battle I see countless people going for the flag and they always fail." This isn't what you'd expect in a newspaper article - this is more like something you'd say to a friend.

Agreed, i just shared my opinion there. Anyways i personally will love to read interesting and informative article with full of slangs and grammatical errors then an article without slangs and grammatical errors but is boring and is not providing me with useful info.

The new reporters articles were published as they were submitted to me for their application. (If you think these were "poor" think of how bad the others were, including possibly yours.) This decision was mine alone. I take full responsibility for it. I wanted, and at the time thought it was a good idea, to show what helped these particular individuals, and nine others, did that moved them on to the next stage of the process. the decision was not made in a rush or because of a rush. I made it because I wanted to do it that way. Again, I always think it is best to know the whole story, get all the facts, before I make assumptions and look foolish doing so. But that is just me.

So firstly, hithere was accepted even with the bad layout, "step1", bad grammar, and the slang?

Or at least ask him to clean it up a little before publishing...

To explain, which I honestly don't feel the need to, but most of you should not be judgemental and quick to put down without complete knowledge of the situation. I also want to express a sincere thanks to those of you who have been a part of the newspaper for your loyalty in this matter. To see you support the newspaper and your former colleagues is outstanding. A most gracious and heartfelt thank you.

Fair enough. Maybe this could have beem explained in bdeck's case, for example, for his article seems a little out of place? Otherwise, I hope all articles are properly proofread next time, as should be common practice, whether they are from an application or not.

 

Fjelstad stands out this issue as a strong writer. Archangel, aojsd, bdeck, and Vikingsrall all put in solid performances, and I will eagerly be awaiting a story or a guide from both Archangel and bdeck, as more accurate indicators of their potential. Looking past the errors, hithere's showed some promise. All in all, it wasn't a bad decision to post their applications, but a couple needed explanation/proper proofreading.

Your post was removed as it was completely unnecessary and uncalled for. I wouldn't really call it criticism either. Not to mention it was flood/overquoting too.
