earning micro upgrades

I think it would be cool if you could earn micro upgrades by spending time playing with a weapon. 

for example: if you used your rail-gun for an hour in battle you would get six random micro upgrades, the micro upgrades would be awarded after each battle, even if you leave before the battle ends.
