Could you give our audience a brief description of who you are? Like, what's your real name/profession?

Hi I'm Jayani. I just graduated with a Distinction from a Master in Electronic Engineering. I am originally from an island in the Indian Ocean called Sri Lanka but I currently live in London.

 

Hey, I see you have a rather original username; where did you get that from?

Well there are two stories behind the origin of my name. My username was based on my real life username, Jeew, and my favourite dance, Jive. jz was just my own way of saying just. People can either pronounce is as just jive or like this http://translate.goo...om/#sv/en/jzjyv

 

Thirdly, what's your favourite combo to use in battle and why?

I like isida and hornet. Isida because of its ability to heal people and hornet because it is fast yet it has enough hp for for me to be there for my teammates when they attack.

 

So, I see you're the owner of the team Counter Strike, how does it feel being the leader? Do any members in particular STRIKE (see what I did there) out to you the most?

It feels good to be a leader but I do have a few tough days when I wonder why the hell did I take on the role. I have a really good group of player who support me and help each other. It is amazing to see the kindness and caring nature some of my members have. These are the members that I find very interesting.

 

Do you plan to join the staff in the coming years?

Yes I do plan to join the staff. Keep an eye to see what I will end up applying for.

 

What section of the community do you browse the most?

I browse through the entire forum everyday except the forum games. I have not visited that forum game section in weeks.

 

If you were a member of the administration, how would you go about improving the forum?

You have some tough question here. Maybe add features to personalize forum profiles, increase the messenger storage and add a chat feature in forum.

 

How long have you been playing Tanki for?

7 months I believe

 

Do you think you'll be playing Tanki in the future?

Yes I want to keep Counter Strike open at least for a year and I also hope to reach the rank of Generalissimo.

 

What hobbies do you have?

I take photographs of landscapes and anything I find interesting. I like to edit my picture if I have time. I like to read fiction and I write poems and lyrics. I play guitar, enjoy long walks in the London parks, like to meet and hang out with people from around the world and I like to travel to different cities around the world.

 

What character trait defines you the most?

I think you should ask this from people who know me on the forum   :) but I will answer the question because you asked me. I like to think I am loyal, friendly and resolute.

 

Is there any other languages you speak?

My mother tongue is Sinhala and I have studied French from the age of 11.

 

What other online games did you play before Tanki?

I used to play Halo with my friends though I was pretty bad at it, Battle City (a tank based game) and Counter Strike.

 

Do you have any goals in Tanki Online?

My goal is to reach Generalissimo with an awesome m3 m3 garage and try to get a clan license from my team by doing well in the tournament. 

 

Are you planning to do anything for the community soon or in the future?

In real life I volunteer as a leader for Brownies and as a guide for blind people. In tanki I hesitate to help openly in the forum because I am shy but if anyone needs help in the main chat in any of the servers  I always try to point them to the correct forum topic. I hope I answered you question.

1. Give us an overview of yourself

Hey, I'm GoldRock. I'm a Second Lieutenant, though I've been playing for over two years, having joined the game just before Shaft was released. I joined the forum just over a year ago. I'm known for being a former reporter for the Tanki newspaper, which was great experience for me ^_^

2. What's your favourite combo to use in battle?

Hmm... I like Hornet/Rail, Hornet/Isida, Hornet/Freeze, and Hornet/Smoky. As you can tell, I'm amongst those players who advocate that offence is the best form of defence.

3. If you were a member of the administration, how would you go about improving the forum?

I would do a LOT of things. I would change the moderation system, and dare I say, replace some of the mods with more open players who'd hear out the opinions of the community and act on them to change the forum for the better, for a start... But I can't develop this answer any further, for fear of breaking certain rules.

4. Are you in a clan/team?

Yes, I am in The Ironclads (IC). What I really like is the sense of community that exists... The clan may no longer be able to compete with some of the best clans in this community (due to many of its members having real life obligations), but if you want a place where your fellow members'll be willing to help you out in battles and outside them, and where you'll be able to develop strong friendships, mixed in with a general sharp sense of humour, IC is the place to be.

5. Do you think being active in the Tanki forum has drastically changed your social life?

What, overall social life? Nah, Tanki only constitutes a small part of my social life, so not really, no. To be fair, it's great to be an active part of one of the best online communities I have ever been in, and I've talked to some great people along the way... But to me, Tanki is no substitution for real life.

6. What was it like to be a Reporter?

It was awesome. What I enjoyed most was the fact that my work would be critically evaluated by others in the community, so I could then improve my writing skills. The rest of the newspaper team are a great bunch of players, too - there's some really talented writers in there. I hope the new reporters will be able to step up to the requirements of their new role, and produce some good quality stuff. I have no regrets about leaving my job; I am just grateful that I had the opportunity in the first place, and grateful to Conan for continuing to be an exemplary newspaper administrator.

7. What is the Tanki paint you want for the future

Well, I'd love to get Rustle, and then eventually Prodigi - I think the camouflage of these two paints, the latter more so, is great, they have good protections, and they look pretty cool, too.

8. What online games did you play before Tanki? And do you still play them?

The first online game I ever played was Adventure Quest. It got boring after reaching the top character levels, and I eventually grew out of it. I did also play other games by the same producer, Artix Entertainment, for a while.

Then, I got into ROBLOX. I loved the PvP and MMO themes, in contrast to AQ - again, I grew out of this eventually, though I still occasionally play it now, 5 and a half years after I started. It does also have clan war systems which have developed (with automatic wars starting once there are enough players on both sides in CTF modes), however, the game gives too many advantages to its buyers, not to mention that it got childish about 4 years ago. Oh, and the community sucks due to all the immature kids who play the game.

I also got involved with RTS (real time strategy) games before playing Tanki, such as Tribal Wars and Travian. I love the element of strategy and tactics they provide, as well as the warfare simulation, and the clan system with its detailed ranking and structuring, but I soon realised I didn't have the time to play 'em, considering you have to spend at least 30 minutes online at four different times in a day to perform decently in those games.

Looking for an MMO in the summer of 2011, I stumbled across Tanki's review on "MMOHut" (a review website). The rest is history.

9. What character trait defines you the most?

Mhmm, difficult question. My honest answer is that I don't think I could define myself using just one character trait.

10. What are your hobbies outside of Tanki?

I swim regularly (I'm a trained 'rookie' lifeguard), and play table tennis quite a bit. I'm also Grade 4 in the piano, since I only started three years ago. I did reach roughly Grade 5 at the violin after playing it for maybe 6 or 7 years, but I never practised, and found it so dismally boring that I recently gave it up. Before I gave it up, I played in the local youth orchestra, but three hours straight of playing a few pieces over and over on a Friday evening wasn't that fun. In my spare time, I go out with friends, or read/write (yes, I read and write literature for fun), or mess around with HTML, or go and play a sport of some sort. School and exams don't really give me much time for that, though.

11. Is there any other languages you speak?

I know Hindi quite fluently, I'm intermediate at Spanish and Chinese, and I know a fair bit of French (though I hated learning it as a language), Punjabi, and Latin.

12. What section of the community do you browse the most?

Off-Topic Discussion... If there's a good discussion going on, I join it. I also check out General sometimes, but usually there's not as much interesting stuff over there.

13. Is there any ideas you want to see implemented into the game? If so, what are they?

Not really, though new hulls and turrets would always be appreciated... They're already working on that, though, which is good.

14. What do you think about the micro-upgrades

They're not very good. To sort 'em out, the probabilities would need to be made more sensible for later micro-upgrades, and there would need to be a less tedious way of using them. I'm personally not even sure how much they're needed - there are more important possible developments, IMO.

15. Do you think you'll be playing Tanki in the future

Yes, I don't see why not. It's a great game, after all.

16. Where did your username come from?

It came from the limited and illogical imagination of my messed up 8-year-old self. In fact, GoldRock is a clear misnomer, since gold is a metal, of course... But at least it's pretty catchy.

17. What do you think about the new hull physics?

Well, interesting. I personally think that they could end up unbalancing the hulls though. For example, M0 Wasp would be faster than M2 Hornet, and Viking would be considerably slower than both Dictator and Hunter. With only a 30% speed increase with nitro, Mammoth would get left in the dust in medium or larger maps. I'd definitely switch to Wasp if the new physics were implemented, though - it'd be a lot harder to aim for and hit it, it'd be an ideal flag capturer, and a little OP, I think. Consider the fact that Wasp M3 can race to cover in a Sandbox CTF after taking the enemy flag whilst only being hit two or three times by a Thunder M3, for example; it takes four shots to destroy Wasp M3 most of the time.

18. Anything you'd like to say before we depart?
