The Administrator's aren't very active.Semyon,Is the only one I see online.I think we should have some subs if a administrator is absent.

Also,Instead of locking a topic they should delete it unless its supposed to be locked and its written by staff.Because if you don't delete it it will never go away meaning it will just cause flood.Thats my honest opinion and what should change.

Also, the Consultants should be a bit more friendly. :P

You got a point. Closing troll topics is ineffective, since the troll is there and the flood is made. Just delete the topic, it is not worth standing in any section.

i think that will be better, some people from other country and they don't really understand English, for example Bengali, there is no Bengali staff in tanki online, so i think they should have Bengali staff the reason why im telling this is because i saw so many Bengali people in chat using Bengali language, if they say something bad you might not understand, so its better to have a Bengali staff.  i am Bengali :D, if you guys need to do something in Bengali, i can help you.

you forgot Hindi! there is a large community of hindi players as well. i daily see many hindi speaking people in the game, and also they say bad words in hindi a lot! any mod or the game cannot detect this language and thus they are free to say anything to anyone.

Na, I believe we have generally friendly Consultants on this forum - barring one of them.

My opinion of the staff: [MY OPINION]

-The REPORTERS try their best and produce a decent newspaper every month for us. They do a good job. Maybe some of them could work a little bit harder and perhaps the pay is a little bit too high but I think they do a decent job. The quality is occasionally lacking but that is rare and plus you can't expect them to be flawless.

-The CYBERSPORT TEAM do nothing. Nought. And apparently they still get paid. I don't think they deserve to be called staff. Hopefully they do something in the Lucky7 tournament, then I could judge upon how good they are doing.

-The CONSULTANTS seem to do very little as well. I know from my former experience of being a staff member that the consultants did do a bit behind the scenes, but for the amount they get paid, they do nothing. Also, they don't really seem to be willing to answer questions. Often, when a new player joins the forum their topic is closed with the "use the search feature" button and some of the answers which have been given have recently often been inadequate and almost all the time just plain lazy, with a sentence or two being given to a question asked in earnest, which very rarely actually answers the question. On top of that, how many of the consultants actually answer questions on the forum (which is their primary job, no?)?

-The CHAT MODERATORS seem to do a good job. There are rarely any complaints about them and they seem to be efficient. There needs to be more of them, though. Why not lower the age requirement for being a chat moderator? Why can't you do that? One complaint I do have, though - and that is their willingness to listen to feedback. I sent a long PM containing suggestions and ideas through to all the moderators a few months ago and got just four replies back, two of which were from moderators which I would consider my "friends" and who didn't really give any real reply but just said thanks. I don't know whether any of the mods did consider any of my feedback but in reality I was left feeling disheartened about the manner of the mods.

-The FORUM MODERATORS are currently, frankly, terrible. (In my opinion). Asides from the pictures we've seen of the way in which they discuss about players on their own skype chat in a way which is disappointing considering they're staff, and the way in which some people have managed to be elected into the position despite having never been active on the forum they got their role or even after having accounts blocked in the past and a long ban history, their actions recently have been poor as well in my opinion. Too often forum threads are closed seemingly for no reason. Threads which are remotely categorized in the scope of a generic thread are closed and linked to that generic thread, which very few forum users actually check. The forum mods never warn users, can't ban (So what're they supposed to do when people are being rude, report it to a chat mod who can't edit the forum?), and rarely seem to take place in forum discussion (not that there is any forum discussion anymore). Most seriously, they seem to do nothing and show no desire to improve the forum (don't create threads to create discussion, don't make jokes, don't have fun on the forum). Also, whenever I've tried to talk to them they seem to have been rude or just ignore you.

My opinion. That's what the thread's for, isn't it?

Patience is a necessity.

It says “specific moderator”, so I guess quotes with no names don’t count towards a ban. Anyway, patience is very important. No matter who you are serving, they should be treated with equal respect. Sarcasm should not be used at all – it can give the wrong message. Whether the player is a notorious troll, a newbie, or a well-known respectable player, they should be treated equally. It’s known that of course there will always be someone who asks the most obvious or stupid question, but that may be due to age, understanding of English, or whatever. So yeah, patience – here “Guys, you just don't think.” when answering a question – this could have been omitted. Rewording is also appreciated – “Pressing your mighty left mouse button several times” could just be “logging into your main account” (the former is a bit too cheeky, no?), and when locking topics (this is an example, off the top of my head) instead of saying “there was no need to create a new topic”, how about “Next time, instead of creating a new topic, you can use *linkhere*”.

Ah yes, almost forgot - this is also in PM. Receiving "I owe you nothing" is quite disappointing. If you request something, of course moderators don't owe you anything, but it's their job to reply as best as they can to your requests.

BUT Mods, as skitee put it, are awful

Let me stress, I do not claim the chat mods are awful. I think they do quite a good job, from what I've seen.

However, on top of that, what I have found is that mods seem to be unwilling to continue discussions, I've often had a discussion with a mod (it's happened three times) when I've been in the middle of an argument/discussion about a post/ban/lock when the mod has just said "if you have a problem talk to bruce (or most recently, semyon)" and deleted the conversation. What's the point of mods if they aren't willing to continue discussions?

Interesting or useful topics aren't closed, but if a new player who came on a forum to find information search for a certain word, and see 3 pages of different subjects - he/she will leave. When I joined the forum 2.5 years ago I gave up reading because of that reason. I believe that the creation of new independent section, off topic, where fans can speak freely about any subject (within rules) is for lovers of the chat, while other sections are designed as service sections, and it is easier to read 1 topic with different opinions than to browse 25 topics.

Thanks for the feedback. I am actively working on the forum daily, as well as other consultants. We try to get you your response in a matter of hours. If you have any urgent problems or questions, I've always went with the 'PM me and I'll answer back in 24 hours' guarantee...just me :)

Staff is bad

Quote from giorgi0101, thanks for being honest. What's the aspect about us that needs improvement? Do let us know.

Evisitors is from India, so probably yes. Why don't you ask him? :)

We do not have jurisdiction or authorization to discuss everything. We have our limitations as well, so best advice we can give to the people is indeed to take discussion to a higher level, aka. to talk to chat admins or community managers directly. Don't take it as an offence, but rather as an advice.

Yet you are still here, isn't that a bit contradicting? Or should I take the "he/she will leave" not that literally?

You have your limitations but I would at least appreciate a polite "I'm sorry, but I can't speak about that." and leave the conversation open for a few days in case anything more needs to be said.

Let me get this right, I'm not talking about me bringing up a subject which the mod can't talk about.

I'm talking about being in full flow with a debate/discussion with a mod who suddenly says "talk to Bruce" or in one case "Stop messaging me" or, in another, a few personal jibes and a message delete. There is no sensible "I can't talk about that", no other reasoning, just the post deleted. This happened in three separate discussions with mods (or in one case an admin of one of the staff teams). Now that is what I don't think is a piece of advice at all, just a piece of lazy moderation who are sick and tired of someone desiring to question them and have a discussion with them.

I agree,Though but all staff need to tell people things such as closing a topic friendlyer.I think we should get all new staff.

Certain staff members don't deserve staff as in people that are hated (me) and the staff members comment in my topics and just troll the topic themselves which means they DONT deserve it!

how staff can improve

Hi again. Hope you don't mind me having another say.

Here's a random situation:

Player1 starts a topic and says, "I''m not happy with x, y and z - I want a rebalance!"

A typical answer from staff might be, "This will never happen - Thread Closed".

This sort of reply, (and I know I made it up), imo, is wrong in so many ways.

1. Don't state something without giving a reason for it.

2. Don't close it straight away without at least giving the op or others adequate time for a response. If you terminate topics too fast, don't be surprised when players complain that discussion is non-existent and the place is dying.

3. Don't be afraid to represent Tanki Online by saying, "we", or "we're". eg, "Thanks. We have considered a rebalance but sadly it doesn't fit in with our plans at this time".

4. Allow the thread to continue if others join it. eg, Player2 says, "I hear you buddy, let's make a poll to get opinions". Even though you know the topic is going nowhere, let it evolve anyway. You never know, something good may come from it and players will enjoy discussing aspects of their favourite game with fellow players. It's this interaction that gets cut short far too often.

Sometimes but not always, it is better not to reply at all. Allow players the satisfaction of answering or discussing first. This gives players a sense of accomplishment and inclusion. The forums are primarily for us. If we give bad advice or go off topic then by all means jump in and correct us.

Lastly, give a little bit of thought to way replies are phrased. For instance - staff use the word, "Kindly", a lot when "Please" would be better suited. I know your hearts are in the right place but it gives the impression that you're annoyed at the person you're replying to. I know English isn't always a first language. Don't be afraid to use, "Sorry" or "Thanks" - it makes us feel like valued customers and not nuisances.

Please don't get on the defensive about this - It supposed to be my input on how I think improvements can be made. It's your right not to agree with me and that's fine. I'll be happy that you've read what I've said and took it on board. If I think of anything else - later...

Best,

Thank you, I'd like to read these messages. Constructive criticism - criticism which gently points out bad things, and how to make them better.

I really don't have many complaints. The only thing I would recommend at this point is if there is a post that might be ban worthy please re-read it and make sure you understand it correctly before hitting the ban button. I have been banned by mistake. I will say the mistake was realized and I had an apology which I appreciated very much. I have also been quick to respond to posts with out fully understanding the meaning and I too have had to issue apologies. So staff and player alike make sure you fully understand the post before taking action

Thanks for making this thread, I think if used properly it will help to bring staff and player into better relations and understanding
