Feedback on staff

-The CYBERSPORT TEAM do nothing. Nought. And apparently they still get paid. I don't think they deserve to be called staff. Hopefully they do something in the Lucky7 tournament, then I could judge upon how good they are doing.

I'd like to disagree on this point. The cybersport team is not all about streaming games for you to see. Their other jobs include, but are not limited to, organizing tournaments, maintaining the CyberSport section of the forum, working to make sure all the cybersport rules are up to date, and also working to schedule events for the future. Perhaps judgement should not be cast until all the cards are on the table :)

My opinion of the staff: [MY OPINION]

-The REPORTERS try their best and produce a decent newspaper every month for us. They do a good job. Maybe some of them could work a little bit harder and perhaps the pay is a little bit too high but I think they do a decent job. The quality is occasionally lacking but that is rare and plus you can't expect them to be flawless.

-The CYBERSPORT TEAM do nothing. Nought. And apparently they still get paid. I don't think they deserve to be called staff. Hopefully they do something in the Lucky7 tournament, then I could judge upon how good they are doing.

-The CONSULTANTS seem to do very little as well. I know from my former experience of being a staff member that the consultants did do a bit behind the scenes, but for the amount they get paid, they do nothing. Also, they don't really seem to be willing to answer questions. Often, when a new player joins the forum their topic is closed with the "use the search feature" button and some of the answers which have been given have recently often been inadequate and almost all the time just plain lazy, with a sentence or two being given to a question asked in earnest, which very rarely actually answers the question. On top of that, how many of the consultants actually answer questions on the forum (which is their primary job, no?)?

-The CHAT MODERATORS seem to do a good job. There are rarely any complaints about them and they seem to be efficient. There needs to be more of them, though. Why not lower the age requirement for being a chat moderator? Why can't you do that? One complaint I do have, though - and that is their willingness to listen to feedback. I sent a long PM containing suggestions and ideas through to all the moderators a few months ago and got just four replies back, two of which were from moderators which I would consider my "friends" and who didn't really give any real reply but just said thanks. I don't know whether any of the mods did consider any of my feedback but in reality I was left feeling disheartened about the manner of the mods.

-The FORUM MODERATORS are currently, frankly, terrible. (In my opinion). Asides from the pictures we've seen of the way in which they discuss about players on their own skype chat in a way which is disappointing considering they're staff, and the way in which some people have managed to be elected into the position despite having never been active on the forum they got their role or even after having accounts blocked in the past and a long ban history, their actions recently have been poor as well in my opinion. Too often forum threads are closed seemingly for no reason. Threads which are remotely categorized in the scope of a generic thread are closed and linked to that generic thread, which very few forum users actually check. The forum mods never warn users, can't ban (So what're they supposed to do when people are being rude, report it to a chat mod who can't edit the forum?), and rarely seem to take place in forum discussion (not that there is any forum discussion anymore). Most seriously, they seem to do nothing and show no desire to improve the forum (don't create threads to create discussion, don't make jokes, don't have fun on the forum). Also, whenever I've tried to talk to them they seem to have been rude or just ignore you.

My opinion. That's what the thread's for, isn't it?

Patience is a necessity.

It says “specific moderator”, so I guess quotes with no names don’t count towards a ban. Anyway, patience is very important. No matter who you are serving, they should be treated with equal respect. Sarcasm should not be used at all – it can give the wrong message. Whether the player is a notorious troll, a newbie, or a well-known respectable player, they should be treated equally. It’s known that of course there will always be someone who asks the most obvious or stupid question, but that may be due to age, understanding of English, or whatever. So yeah, patience – here “Guys, you just don't think.” when answering a question – this could have been omitted. Rewording is also appreciated – “Pressing your mighty left mouse button several times” could just be “logging into your main account” (the former is a bit too cheeky, no?), and when locking topics (this is an example, off the top of my head) instead of saying “there was no need to create a new topic”, how about “Next time, instead of creating a new topic, you can use *linkhere*”.

Ah yes, almost forgot - this is also in PM. Receiving "I owe you nothing" is quite disappointing. If you request something, of course moderators don't owe you anything, but it's their job to reply as best as they can to your requests.

I am just curious to know, I don't know either of these 2 players but both of these comments seem to me their opinion stated in manner that was respectful even though they may have been critical. Now when I looked at the up/down votes for these comments I see a lot of down votes and a lot of them from what I recognize as "staff". If this thread is for the allowance of our opinions then IMHO the down votes from staff only serve to drive a wedge between staff and player. These comments seem to be passionate, but not rude to me. SO.....why the down votes??

Maybe on this thread the option for up or down vote should not exist and one should take the time to explain their position in a respectful manner. I would like to hear from staff on these matters and see things from your prospective. I believe this thread could do a lot of positive good for the community if EVERYONE put their thoughts down with out taking some one else's comments personally.

Lets air it out without trippin yo

Mods should be able to deffriante between:

1. Talking normally to friends with profane language aka telling a story and how you felt... To people using it to insult others.

2. Mods should warn a player in pm message if first offense in vialtors section....rather than them currently not telling he person what they did wrong

As for others like Semyon and cybersport. Good work just try and make tournament once Ina while:)

Yes thanks for giving me your job details but i want some examples... for example how did you make sure that the rules were up to date? Yes streaming videos are not the only thing that the cybersport team does but it is a huge one. Did you stream any games from today? If so please give me the link... i have been lookin g fowars to watching some games

Agreed. I've only gotten banned Once, due to that reason. Didn't know you couldn't post there. . . I posted like what, twice? And got banned for like what, a week?

Well, that is your own fault. It is clearly stated in the rules of the section. You can say I didn't know or I didn't read the rules, but maybe you should find the rules before you post something in a section. So please don't make it sound like the moderators did wrong at that point.

Actually, what Dirt said is not so much of an issue. Staff are allowed to agree and disagree with our comments. However, it's this issue which has been noticed by some of us:

Sadly, there are examples on this thread of mods using their mults to upvote their own posts, and mods using mults to downvote others, Selena's in particular. Since players look up to mods as role models, this is clearly not the right way to go...

I'm honestly disappointed with the staff who did this. It's completely unprofessional. The majority of players have been using this thread properly; I don't see any players using mults to upvote/downvote posts. Obviously, of all people, staff should be doing the same...

Didn't mean they did anything wrong. Just saying the ban is unexpected and agreeing with Canada that they should give you a warning.

+1.The age requirements is a bit long.I need to wait like 3 months and I should be able to apply for chat moderator in my alt.Developers has set a good set of rules.Just the age restriction,is some-what difficult for me.

well i'm not trying to criticize the moderating system i'm providing a upgrade :)

my point is if someone is in a argument should they first be told to stop arguing and be told to sort it out in a rational manor instead of a straight ban if they continue to argue after a certain period of time they should be banned. my point is that bans don't change anything from what i've seen they make people more aggravated into becoming forum trollers and trollers like . i think they should be given 3-5 mins t stop there agrguement and warned not to flood and told to stop before you bann them right now there is sometimes no warning ive seen warning in 5 seconds a ban has come out when that person has done nothing now?

please carefully read my point. i believe this upgrade is  necessary

I know staff up or down voting is no big deal. I meant in this particular thread it seems to me a legitimate response would be preferred to a down vote with out any explanation. Me personally, If I wrote what Selena and skitee wrote I would want to hear what the staff had to say about it rather than a down vote and nothing else. They (Selena and skitee) took the time to post their thoughts and seems to me the right thing to do is respond in writing. This will open dialog and maybe just maybe people can come to terms. We all don't have to agree...but we can all come to an agreement and that takes dialog. The way I see it the ball is in the staff's court ...lets hear what they have to say...or just down vote and accomplish nothing.

As far as multiple accounts go I don't use them. I think it is a way to step out of line and not be held accountable. I don't hold any thing against any one who uses many accounts, it is their right but then you have the kind of abuses you are describing among other things. IMO using only one account forces you to (if you care about your reputation) think about the things you say around here. I do own another account but it is the one my son plays on and I wont let him in the forum till he is older.

I agree...I think a quick ban will only contribute to more trolls...as long as the argument is not cussing or getting disrespectful then let it ride........

I agree completely. The points made here should really all be responded to, that's what Consultants are for...

Again, agreed. I just think that the fact that staff are using their alts to vote up their own posts and downvote others is really disrespecting the whole point of this topic, and setting a bad example.

To the staff: Please don't use your alts to upvote/downvote here, for the sake of respect and professionalism. Consultants, please respond to each of the points we are making - we know you're reading through them, but we'd love to hear your responses to what we've said, so we can discuss our points with you further. That is what you are being paid for, no; for answering our questions and explaining why some of what we've suggested may/may not work? Thanks :)

You have your limitations but I would at least appreciate a polite "I'm sorry, but I can't speak about that." and leave the conversation open for a few days in case anything more needs to be said.

Let me get this right, I'm not talking about me bringing up a subject which the mod can't talk about.

I'm talking about being in full flow with a debate/discussion with a mod who suddenly says "talk to Bruce" or in one case "Stop messaging me" or, in another, a few personal jibes and a message delete. There is no sensible "I can't talk about that", no other reasoning, just the post deleted. This happened in three separate discussions with mods (or in one case an admin of one of the staff teams). Now that is what I don't think is a piece of advice at all, just a piece of lazy moderation who are sick and tired of someone desiring to question them and have a discussion with them.

In that case, you are absolutely right, it shouldn't have been that way. It's impolite and rude, and not the way staff should be handling discussions with the players. You can address that issue and try to talk things over with the moderators in question, or alternatively complain to the admins about that.

Mods should be able to deffriante between:

1. Talking normally to friends with profane language aka telling a story and how you felt... To people using it to insult others.

1. "Talking normally with profane language"!!

Hellooo!  You are communicating on a public chat and/or forum! Public! You can't use profanity, not even as a joke!

If you want to speak with your friends the way you want to, or express yourself however you want to, use private messages or any Internet messenger.

Again, agreed. I just think that the fact that staff are using their alts to vote up their own posts and downvote others is really disrespecting the whole point of this topic, and setting a bad example.

 You really think people have time to play with votes?! What will I get from it, money? Respect? Fast car? House with the pool?

Come on, give us a bit more credit. What will staff gain to down vote some opinion or another? And to go around and switch on alternative accounts just to do that...

Yeah, I saw... I gave a negative one myself just now, wanted to test it, and I can't undo it now  :( So I apologize, it's my fault for not knowing more about voting system... Undo option should be implemented.

But I still stand about what I said - staff voted from their accounts, not alternative ones. It's quite visible there, they are standing behind what they voted for. There is no saying anyone used alternative accounts for that...

The purpose of it is to get all the ideas and suggestions on how staff can improve

I don't think the purpose of this thread is to get explanations of past actions or even get feedback from any given situation so don't be upset if you don't receive any to your posts. It's great that we're given an opportunity to vent on things that we're not normally allowed to so don't expect too much in this topic. State for the record what bothers you and let's hope procedures get tweaked so that everyone's a winner.

I suppose they aren't required to, but it would help both sides come to an agreement if they did.
