Review [Issue 17] Monthly Review of the News

To comply with Warrant Officer 4 Kirov’s orders, the Breaking News platoon has successfully merged into the Press contingent, and now issue highly classified monthly reviews on what has happened during the month… Sorry, I just came back from an army camp yesterday, and it seems like the effects haven’t worn out yet.

1st October:

Players’ happiness means developers’ happiness!
Make Semyon happy by doubling his pay check enjoying Tanki! Most of you guys were complaining about how you believe that the admins prefer buyers rather than non-buyers – this is not true – they value all players. And of course, whilst the developers work hard making big changes, they do devote some time to make the game more user-friendly.

Lucky 7 is back!
That’s right – The second tournament has started (we are currently nearly at the end of the qualifications), so now Shields of Fire can finally get their L7 paint removed :lol:

3rd October

50% off Freeze, Wasp and Freeze protection paints!

Now obviously there was a massive increase of players’ happiness (Second L7?) which made the developers happy enough to make the discounted items at a great bargain!

Video Blog 2 – Cheating

Another informative video this time on the battle between the developers and hackers, kindly recorded, edited and posted by S.KIROV Studios. I am simply amazed by how technology dramatically improves to stop hackers and cheaters. Lets hope Mr K can direct another film production just as good.

Yay! The winning team receives a clan license! Kinda funny how I got my license without all this effort :lol:
But seriously (serious? Me?), there are some good teams out there, and I can’t wait to see their ability (and it will be interesting to see the not-so-good teams play too).

I think this sounds right, what’s your opinion? Disagree? Oh well :P By the way, the devs don’t want any more comments like “me need more gold bils!!!” So just send constructive criticism please.

Choose between Isida, Thunder or Shaft and the weapon with the most votes from all 3 communities get the discount! The devs gave Isida and Thunder 25% off. You must be kidding me - I finally rank to Brigadier to get either M3 Isida or M3 Thunder, sales on both of them is on and guess what? I only have 38 crystals! :@

Slogan for Tanki T-shirts - competition

After looking at some of the slogans entered, I think Tanki will have a secure revenue from selling t-shirts. Some of these slogans are not bad, but you can't beat a reference to a certain Shakespearean play based in Scotland.

How to contact Technical Support the right way

Seems like the devs got tired of receiving emails containing "my account hacked itself again!!!!!" This topic is extremely useful, and contains a form you should fill out when you send an email to them. Doing so will speed up your request.

Halloween is coming!

The spooky annual festival is now in Tanki, and the developers are adding a special Halloween map and a 3000 gold box! Even better – a 13% discount is also in the garage, however I still can’t afford M3 Isida or Thunder! :@ Now, how to go trick or treating on Tanki...

New graphics released soon!

The mind-blowing developers will be introducing a new shot effect (as seen in the video) and a new lighting effect, which makes the screen brighter and still doesn't lag or give you a low FPS rate. Once this is introduced, I can't laugh at my friend's bad computer anymore when we play Tanki.  :(

Halloween on Twitter!

Just managed to squeeze this in, and is similar to the Moon Silence Twitter competition. The best screenshots in the holiday map will get rewards, such as 70,000 crystals and a t-shirt. Not bad for just taking a screenshot. If you guys have checked the HALLOWEEN map, have you noticed how it’s so similar to the Highland maps? What a coincidence…

The layout of this is bad. It just looks like one line for each update, which it is (you made the font so small). No pictures at all. It just looks too plain and boring, to be honest. Font colour is all the same, can hardly tell between a title and text (only that it's bold). It just looks, and is... weak.

And about you not being able to afford an M3, so what?

After Lham and hog's version of this last issue, I was expecting another good laugh, but this only made the corners of my lips twitch on a couple of occasions. The paragraphs are really too small, there should be more detail, and more humour. It also seems slightly opinionated rather than unbiased:

Are you writing a Reporter's article, or advertising on behalf of the mods? You seem to jump between telling jokes and preaching - what were the aims in your mind when writing this article?

 

Anyway, fairly weak overall, kind of disappointed. On a positive note, it's well written with good grammar, but it doesn't really engage the reader.

Duo to time problems he had only 1 day to write this so i think it good since he only had 1 day,however next issue it will be much better,thanks for the feedback.

Hmm, being a former reporter I know that's no excuse; you guys have a month. If you don't have the time to write a good quality article, then don't. Better no article than a poor or mediocre one, otherwise the general quality of the newspaper will be impacted. If in doubt, or running out of time, then just don't publish. But I've been impressed with the standard of the vast majority of the articles this issue, well done.

So what would the sensible thing to do have been? Either to have written an article or two in advance, or failing that, to not have published anything at all.

 

Though to be fair, 75% of my articles were written on the last day :lol: The difference is, I had time to spend on mine, whereas here, Music has apparently had to rush it through a little.

 

It was not absolutely essential for him to have an article published... First hithere, now Music - both reporters got off to a bad start simply because articles have been rushed through to publishing, even though both are very good writers. I thought the newspaper team had all agreed on hog's idea that rushed-through, below-standard articles should be denied publishing, until they were proofread/reworked in some way, and so up to scratch?

 

This would've been a near-perfect issue otherwise.

I think what 6B is trying to say is that he was only given the idea and assignment to write the article one or two days before the publication date. While to many this is not a good or even valid excuse, it is an explanation to why the descriptions for each event were so short.

That only shows that Music isn't very modest. If he knew could only produce something as bad as this, he should have said "I'm not able to produce something of newspaper standard in the time given". A Reporter should know their own capabilities.
