How many M2's is enough?

So I bought like crazy in the past 2 days, and now I have (M2) Friz, Rail, Spatula, Vampire, Viking and Hornet and 77K cry's. I'm afraid I bought too many, and I don't want to make the same mistake of buying too many modifications. I hope I can rank to Major by New Years, so I can get Mammy, since M2 Mammy is a must-get.

umm mammy m2 is not a must get. getting all m3 is a must get. plus jsut get whatever gun you want m3 first save all the crystals for that than purchase other modifactions

In my opinion, maybe 2 M2 hulls and 2-3 M2 turrets would be enough.  It's important to have at least a small variety, but getting too many isn't good.  I've made the mistake of buying too many M1's, and trust me, it sucks.  I don't use a majority of them, and if I didn't buy the useless ones, I'd have a lot more crystals to afford M2's.  However, I'm not an M2 expert.  Maybe you could get a little more M2's, it really depends on how much crystals you make.

Strategy: Say an M3 costs 200,000 Crystals. Keep saving until you get 200,000 Crystals. Then count that as Zero. Ok? Then start building from there and only using the extra crystals, and thereby letting you get your first M3 ASAP.
