Let's discuss the new light and medium formats

I could not find a topic for discussing the new formats in the clans section so I made one here. I would like your opinions on whether or not you think the new clan tournament formats are to restrictive or if they will better streamline the battles. I would also like your suggestions on how the formats should be improved if you think they need to be. the new formats can be found at the bottom of this page http://en.tankiforum.com/index.php?showtopic=168680 .

This is a good topic, let's see what the community thinks about the formats, specially clan players, bump!

Well, in Medium formats all weapon are allowed, however in light only railguns and one smoky, i think this is a perfect format choice, light shows more skill needed to win, while medium goes a bit on the side of luck, however skill is needed even in medium.

in Medium formats for 6vs6 it says "all turrets are allowed,...... except for smoky, freeze, shaft, and isida" so almost half are not allowed at all, twins and thunder can only be used once, and rail can only be used twice, so then you have to decide whether to have one rico and one fire, or 2 firebirds or 2 ricos,(not a common strategy). in 4vs4 it is the same except shaft is allowed, thunder has no limit and rail has no limit.

in light on 6vs6 it is only railguns and one smoky if you want, (not much room to plan any strategy is there). on 4vs4 it is the most selective yet with only railguns allowed and only hornets or wasps to be used.

personally I love to plan a strategy using the best abilities of my clan members with their different guns, but I think with these formats the only strategy you can plan is to fight better then the other team and win. also another problem with this is if you were good at freeze, isida, or shaft, but not much else, then you become pretty useless when the tournaments come around.

Well, freeze kills the game, shaft, let's be honest, who will use it if they allow it? isida, too unfair with the healing!

Maybe they can allow Shaft, and let the teams use it, one twins and one thunder is quite enough, these weapons are devastating if played in numbers, two railguns, quite good if more it would start turning to light?

Smoky: probably because of the crits, that's why only one is allowed in Light.
