Please don't destroy Tanki Online

Hey everyone,

I m writing this post to give you guys a general idea about what i think about those upgrade kits available to be bought at the garage. Please feel free to share your opinions with me.

It has been some time since i have started playing over the internet. I don't want to call myself a pro gamer or something like that but i do enjoy playing some games with others in free time. I joined tanki around an year ago and i must say that like most of you i fell in love with it immediately. The game was very well balanced and though the buyers did have an edge over the non-buyers that edge could be overtaken by skill itself alone. In my point of view it is this balance that allow Tanki Online to reach vast number of players through all of those years. Though it was like that, recently TO has been making some severe mistakes that i think should never be made by online gaming companies. Tanki started to monetize the game and give the buyers a huge edge over the non buyers. First they did this thing called rebalance and now they have introduced those kits that can be bought by anyone at anygiven moment regardless the rank. I know the fact that it's buyers that are keeping this game alive and that it's their money that is invested to make this game better, BUT I DO NOT ACCEPT OVERDOING IT. It will surely cause the loss of huge amont of players. Let me show you some examples of some sites that lost their player base because of the above fact.

 

Chesscube- i was an avid chess player ( and still am) and i was playing on this site called chesscube. The site had a good player base of around 20k players online at any given time until they introduce this system called cubits which monatized the site. They lost most of the players because of this and most of them moved onto other free chess sites available. I recently heard from one of their admins that the servers of the site were moved out to different places because of lack of money.

 

Ikariam - Ikariam was an online RTS game which was initially free to play. After gaining some reputation and a good player base they too made some changes that allowed buyers to have a huge advantage over the non buyers and this too ended in nothing but the loss of huge amount of players.

 

That was how NOT TO monatize a site. But there are some ways that you can do this while keeping the player base intact.

 

Tribal wars - This is another browser based RTS game that currently has a good player base. They too added a premium features that can bought, to the game. But what they did was keeping the advantage the buyers had over the free players minimal. For ex-

1) they added servers that can only be played by only buyers, thus giving them a better gaming experience.

 

2) Allowed everything that buyers could do to be done by free players but with more spent on a free player account.

 

I do think that the above examples show that where we (tanki online) are heading is not that good. :( Who knows what we may see in the recent future? A private firing at a generalissimo with a M3 thunder and a M3 Mammoth? Please feel free to share your ideas with me on this.

This has been repeated more than enough times. Tanki is a free game. People give their time to work to make the game 'better'. Would you rather play Tanki the way it is now, or have to pay to create an account? Also, you see how much of an advantage product-kit buyers get over non-buyers. They put real money into this game. They lose money from their bank account, but they get crystals in return. You could theoretically do the same thing.

yes it's true mate! I do accept the fact that their should be buyers and stuff for them. The thing is Tanki shouldn't over do this. Don't you think that being drugged from beggining to the end of a game like some buyers do, is itself an enough advantage already?

Not exactly. Many of the player-base is most likely 1) not old enough 2) too broke 3) both

Of course, buyers are essential for the game - the OP was simply making the point that buyers should be given fair advantages, rather than ones which unbalance the game. Product kits are overdoing it in that they offer modifications/paints quite a bit before they would be individually unlocked.

It WAS what they have been doing until they added the kits.

look if u dont like the game go somewhere else buying has gone high since the kits came out but thats good then tanki will survive buying a odd 20k isnt enough but these kits will ensure tankis survival.

without buyers tanki will be killed deal with it... i have to we all have to
