Cybersport 2.0 (Updated on December 6)

Dear players,

After a long discussion and analysis of your feedback, it was decided not to join all 3 communities in the same leagues.

Instead of that, there will be separate 4 leagues in each community.

2 or 4 times a year we will held a major tournament in each league where clans from all 3 communities will fight together.

Information for current clans:

The Winter Qualifying Tournament will start this month. According to results shown in it, EN clans will be divided into Top League and League 2.

Moreover, best 16 clans from all 3 communities according to the results of the tournament will take part in Clan Championship 8.

Once the tournament is over, new forum section will be created. Clans will be moved to Top League and League 2. Teams will go to League 3 and League 4, depending on their ranks and equipment in garages.

A major revision of the cybersport system will take place in December.

What will be changed:

  • clan licenses are cancelled: from now on each newly created group will be a clan
  • registration procedure will be simpler
  • clans will be divided into 4 leagues
  • a new standard of clan battles will be introduced: more shorter rounds and a different procedure of defining a winner
  • official solo and tandem tournaments will be cancelled but players will be able to make their own tournaments.
Divide into 4 leagues:

Now both teams and clans are called clans and are divided into 4 leagues:

  • League 4 — for novice clans that consist of medium-ranked players using M2 weapons and hulls.
  • League 3 — for novice clans that consist of high-ranked players using M3 weapons and hulls.
  • League 2 — 32 strong clans that use M3 only and have nearly full garages (a wide range of turrets, hulls and paints is required for battles in this league), use advanced tactics and have experienced leaders/coordinators.
  • Top League — best 16 clans of the game, with truly skillful players and famous leaders. They are the ones who fight for the name of the champion of Tanki Online.
Here is how it will look:

Clans will soon be divided into leagues:

  • Top league is currently unavailable for our clans
  • All the current clans will go to League 2. They will play in a special tournament with Russian and German clans. 16 best clans will take part in the Clan Championship. Clans that will finish below place 32 will be moved to League 3.
  • All registered teams that have at least 6 high-ranked players with M3 weapons and hulls will go to League 3.
  • All the other teams will go to League 4.
Creating a new clan:

Creating clans will be free in League 3 and League 4 and will depend on ranks of players:

  • if the majority of players can afford M3 weapons and hulls, then the clan takes part in League 3 tournaments
  • if ranks are low and garages mostly consist of M2 items, such a clan will have to start from League 4
  • if a clan from League 4 gets to higher ranks and buys M3 weapons and hulls, it can move to League 3, no matter what its results in tournaments are
Players:
  • In the near future we are planning to cancel the clans registration process. But as long as it's all done in the forum (in the future it will all be done automatically and outside of the forum), we don't have any options to improve. That is why monthly transfer windows stay. On the other hand, the 3 months rule will be removed, players will be able to move from one league to another once a month.
  • Clans of League 3 and League 4 can have an unlimited number of players.
By doing so, season tournaments will let clans try newcomers and see who of them is worthy of taking part in the Clan Championship and other major events.

Changes in timing of battles and way of defining the winner:

The old tradition of having 20 minutes rounds has outlived its usefulness. Clans spend to much time entering the battle knowing that they have a lot of time to play: no one is attacking at the beginning and even after losing a flag a clan often continues to play in a relaxed way as there is plenty of time left till the end of round.

We want every round to be a show, so that every round would decide something and clans would want to win it. On the other hand, even a lost round shouldn't decide anything. That is why the timing of battles will be changed, here is what it will look like:

  • 4 rounds, 10 minutes each (timing stays the same if we compare it to old 2 rounds, 20 minutes each).
  • Winner is defined not by the number of captured flags but by rounds won (this suggests that a clan can have different tactics for different bases of the same map. Depending on the situation, clan can attack or defend, based on their result in previous round(s). This will be interesting).
  • If after 3 rounds the score is 2:0 or 3:0, the battle is over.
  • If it is a tie after 4 rounds in play-off, penalty is played.

Solo and Tandem tournaments are cancelled.

Tanki Online administration temporarily cancels official Solo and Tandem tournaments.

However, from now on players can organize their own tournaments:

  • Official cybersport will meanwhile concentrate on developing clan tournaments and streams of battles.
  • After a minor check by organizers, any player can create his or her own tournament.
  • Organizers of best tournaments that attracted a big number of participants and positive feedback, will be supported with crystal funds for the tournament and personal reward.
  • Best organizers that will join the official cybersport teams and will take part in organizing official tournaments.
Thanks to this system, solo and tandem tournaments will be held all the time, not 3-4 times a year.

What will also change:

  • Top league and League 2 will play in seasons: Winter, Spring, Summer, Autumn. Each season there will be a tournament.
  • Twice a year 16 clans of Top League and 16 best clans of League 2 will take part in the Clan Championship, winner of it will become the champion and get a big money prize. Besides, after each CC all the clans that got to play-off will stay in Top League regardless of previous achievements.
  • A new paragraph about unacceptable behavior will be added to rules: a player can be punished for disrespect shown to the enemy during the tournament, whether it happens in battle or when using Skype.
  • When registering a clan, you no longer need to collect confirmation messages from players (however, players still need to leave them when joining the clan).
  • Other small things that we will mention later.

  • Clans in League 2 and Top League can have a maximum of 15 players. Such clans can have 5 substitutes in their list of player every season/tournament.

Hey, just wondering about this rule... does this mean that the clan can actually only have 20 members, or just in a tournament, have 20 available players?

However, it looks fantastic. Love the idea of leagues.

These 2 sentences are actually not connected. I changed the phrasing so that it's clear to everyone, thank you.

It actually means that a clan in League 2 and Top League can have 15 players, not more.

I think that is more fair system for the clans that want to go to the top and for the clans which want just excist for play without big expectations. This system gonna make happy a lot of tankionline members.

Since all the clans will be moved to league 2, will it be allowed for a clan to opt to be placed in league 3 if it wishes to keep it's clan intact?

Meaning, some clans have more than 15 players, and may not wish to lose some members.
