Because I think primates a.k.a monkeys, can't evolve to us, humans. And even if monkeys did evolve, why there are monkeys (currently)?

True i dont Belive

And the first post quoted has 4 upvotes...

People really need to actually read something about evolution that's not from creationist sites because this is just sad.

if evolution really exists therefore logically life hasnt got a meaning.think about it every livimg thimg has a purpose.if u believe in evolution then ur embracing the fact that once u die its all over.wats the point in living then? wats the point in listening to the so called scientists who dont even have a clue on why they are living?where are they now.(dead)

Just because we are brought into this world with no meaning, doesn't mean we can't make it meaningful once we are here.

Please can you give me a list of the, "so called scientists who dont even have a  clue on why they are living".

Even if that were true it doesn't change the fact that evolution is happening.

I'd like to ask people that answered no to the survey, what is it you don't believe in? Is there a particular part that you do not accept? What do you find to be incorrect?

Wow, so many religious people here...

As an atheist, I fail to understand how people can believe in religion, which is based loosely on books and scriptures, when there is science, which is proven through repeated experimentation, testing and analysis.

Unless there's something I'm missing...

ive read and i know all what is supposed to be known about that theory, many have tried to proof this theory true that mankind happened to exist through evolution, but despite  gatherring all the necessary conditions for life to sprout in laboratory but guess what they failed.this experiment was conducted by stanley miller(1953) and some of them clearly admit it(lynn margilus, robert cowendean kenyon etc).wats the point in trying to understand how we came about if we dont even know why we are living.evolution is right but for man to evolve it must have had a beginning somehere but where did it all startthats wat they were trying to answer in vain. nevertheless we were born free and we all have our opinions i respect yours and ive thought about it for a while, believe in wat u want just as i do,only time will proove which of us was wrong.

Evolution explains the diversity of life not it's beginning, even if we don't know how we came about (which we have a good idea of) it still doesn't change the fact evolution happened and is happening. Evolution is also not an opinion, it's a statement of truth. A fact.

may i ask you a question what gives a meaning to your life? surely u may answer with things like bringing up a family, getting a job, contributing to the society, being with ur loved ones or some other reason but it all remains thesame,if this same question is asked to several people around the globe u will be surprised at how their opinions diverge believe ma..Therefore who is right? no matter wat u answer u will admit that u arent sure of yourself. As a christian wat gives a meaning to my existence is trying to understand the purpose of my living and i strongly believe in it.

Let me know when DNA is added to organisms by natural selection. Until then, the only observed mutations have been destructive, even if they are beneficial - for example St. Bernard dogs "overheat" because the gene that controls their internal body temperature doesn't work right. However, this helps the dogs survive in very cold regions.

There are no wrong answers to that question no matter where you ask it. So it's not a question of "who is right?".

Evolution exists. Life has no meaning until the life injects some meaning to it.

It's pretty arrogant to think that we have some special purpose in the universe.

The human race is not that important in the grand scheme of things.

There is almost certainly many more civilisations, if not in our galaxy then in the other billions of galaxies around our universe, that could be far more advanced than we are.

I just live one day at a time within the system I find myself in. Any life is no different, whether it's an elephant or an aids virus.

I don't think I'm special. I just want to keep my mind occupied until I die, learning more about the world as I go.

When I'm dead - I'm dead. The atoms that once formed by body will disperse and eventually will  form part of other people and animals, just as they did before me.

It doesn't only add information, it sometimes changes it or subtracts it. And if you take a dog from a cold climate to a warm one it's natural that it'll have a bad effect...

u say its arrogant to think that humans have got a purpose here on earth?think about it every single thing in this world has a purpose from non living to living if not its utterly useless, therefore why should humans not have one? as u can see u couldnt clearly answer my question.Your own life is shaped by the environment and society in which u live infrom your very birth till when u die,a society brought up by people not different than u,u keep on repeating thesame pattern every single human does during his entire existence.you say u want to keep your mind occupied while u live forgetting that all of it will soon die with u as though it never existed.Galaxies???u people keep on concentrating on useless things while the world has much greater problems(famine, poverty, war) maybe its because uve never felt it?i reiterate wats the point in trying to undersatnd evolution when u dont evn know why u live?though im a scientist and i approove of all the good things it does i know it will never give a meaning to my existence nor will evolution.Nevrtheless believe in wat u want time answers all questions and it was a pleasure having this discussion with you,if u feel as to rebuke i will be ready to listen. :)

What gives meaning to my life is irrelevant. I answered the other question with some additional stuff thrown in for good measure.

I didn't say that.  You have omitted one word to build your strawman.

u people keep on concentrating on useless things while the world has much greater problems(famine, poverty, war) maybe its because uve never felt it?

Actually, I actively support the Palestinian cause. I have attended rallies and marched in a number of cities in the UK for that and other causes and campaigns too, regularly writing to the MP's and the media. I suppose none of that counts in your opinion. Just because I'm an atheist and support evolution, doesn't mean I can't denounce human suffering when I see. I'm not cold and heartless.

i reiterate wats the point in trying to undersatnd evolution when u dont evn know why u live?

I know precisely why I live. I live because of my parents. My parents because of their parents and so on...

Many people are just unable to comprehend this, but no, we do not have a specific 'purpose' on this earth. We were born here, and we will die here. Whatever we do in our lives is based on the society and morals created by the intelligence of our human race. Think about it this way, we are just organisms on a rock in space, but what makes us different is that we are intelligent enough to be able to question our own existence. No other life form can do this.

Ugh... William Lane Craig... His debates and his cosmological "argument" is so annoying... Same with his objective morality one.

You can fling logic all day but you still will be preaching to the wall. Logic isn't really proven fact. It can change in one day based on one small observation like gold rock mentioned about the corpuscle theory.

So in matters like these one can only trust one's common sense and personal experience.

And I have experienced God personally, talking to me and even healing me.

I hope He makes you realize the truth one day too.

This topic is about evolution. I didn't read any of the article. Instead I searched for evolution and this came up...

Quote from article:

"Scientists once believed that whatever the initial conditions of the universe, eventually intelligent life might evolve... The existence of intelligent life depends upon a conspiracy of initial conditions which must be fine-tuned to a degree that is literally incomprehensible and incalculable"

And that shows the trickery and dishonesty of this article. Why lie or misrepresent the position of Science? I didn't read any more. I want truth and facts, not deception.
