Thunder m3 Under Powered?

 Share

Recommended Posts

A more recent performance with Thunder against highest ranked people (Gens). As you can see from the score, a Thunder user can still do well with M3 Thunder. So the turret is just great, you just need to learn how to use it properly cause at those ranks you gonna face even more skilled players.

I think thunder is underpowered, mainly for its distance:damage ratio, in order to succeed with thunder you have to be very close, which puts you at risk to close range weps and mainly leads to self-damage .The most common protection on a paint is thunder, as well as it being on the most popular paints such as: rustle, emerald and prodigi, this acts as a sort of nerfing. This is why thunder is not that effective. at close range a thunder m3 should be able to 2-shot kill a hornet m3 at close range as it is supposed to be most effective as a close range wep.

People who say Thunder sucks must not know how to use Splash damage. . .

Sorry, but you are wrong.

I play this game since january 2010 and i always used thunder. Was my first weapon M3.

Since the refund, thunder is now too weak and the splash damage is ridiculous. The thunder is so under powered that smoky m2 is more powerfull than thunder m3.

Sorry, but I must disagree.

The Thunder's damage is huge. It is not a weak weapon on its own.

However, paints my dear. Paints is what is driving down its power. And do you know why so many people use Thunder Paints? Because it's so ridiculously strong. I don't use Thunder paint, and I can

definitely feel the power of it when I get shot.

So maybe the problem isn't boosting Thunder's power, but lessening the paint's power. If you boost Thunder, no painted Tanks are going to go through hell trying to play against them.

You bought the weapon, you deal with the consequences of paints.

The Splash damage is very nice in my opinion. It actually has a very wide range.

As for Planetawesome, Thunder ain't for long range. I mean, it CAN be used for it, but the effects are minimal. It is meant as a close/MEDIUM ranged weapon. You have to get to the right distance, not too far, and not too close. That's the golden range for Thunder, where it will draw out its full potential.

P.S: It damages multiple enemies quite easily when you time/aim your shots.

Smoky And Rail Is Nothing Against Thunder.

i hate at rail that you need good teammates who damage the enemies to 1 shoot them, with thunder and smoky you can relly on yourself which gives you a greater enjoy than waiting to someone to damage hornet to 1 shoot with the railgun..

About MUing thunder, players can also MU their tank too, so MUing thunder won't make it OP. I heard too that it decreases damage quite quickly and there are a lot of paints, rustles, emeralds and prodigi has some protection against thunder.

Fatal tank cause i agree with you, once with a double power a group pf vehicles were in Monte Carlo in a point (CP= control points) and 6 tanks were there. I had no chance but i pressed button ''3'' for double power 6 kills one shot, it was worth it.  :D

All what you said was about the thunder before the refund. Im talking about the thunder after the refund.

Of course thunder have damage and splash efect. But not like before the refund. In pro battles, only the noobs are using the thunder. You dont see anymore a player using emerald in medium and large maps.

But if you think the thunder still good. go ahead. :-)

@Daslec: I am also talking about Thunder after the refund. :P

As for pro-battles, only the people who truly love using Thunder use it. As for ''not like before the refund,'' of course not. Before the re-BALANCE, the stats were different for each weapon.

Once they change the stat of one, they have to re-configure everything else, which meant a change for Thunder as well so it can become balanced.  There is the possible fact that you were just

too used to pre-rebalance Thunder, and still need time to get used to the post-rebalance Thunder.

And if you think Thunder is so bad, then go ahead. Just don't use it, and if you see one in battle, you should be happy, since it's so bad, no? :-)

i find thunder very owning in NS if used by the right player and is more enjoyable than smoky which you ask yourself when the damn critical will come to save my ass??

yh...and i have m2 hornet.

P.S: You just go check my screenshots against Gissmos on NS battles when i was all m2 still...there are on FatalTank's profile....from my exp in this game..i'm honestly saying to you that NO turret or hull would stand a chance against hornet-thunder combo IN Sandbox...unless it had emerald paint on it. On NS battles against gissmos i remember counting 6 out 8 players with anti-thunder paints...if they were without those paints....even mammys would be useless against a skilled thunder. Those paints really do a HUGE diff....and thunder is clearly THE most feared turret in the game...and THAT'S WHY high ranked guys nerf (wisely) it with emeralds and rustles.

false hornet and freeze is absolutely the best combo in sandbox. WIth cedar it is soo good
