Reworking of maps

Hazel-Rah,

 

Any rough estimate of a date that you could give us in regards to when the reworking of current maps will be completed? I'm very anxious to find out... as I'm sure many others are also curious about. Will it be before the end of this month? Or will it be two months away...? Or even longer?

58/77 maps are ready. Closed test is underway.

Thanks for the update.

 

Perhaps you could explain the reason behind only changing Barda as of right now? I find it strange that only one map would be changed... especially without any notifications to the community. Is this how we can expect the other maps to be? Will they just be updated basically at random without warning, or will we be informed ahead of time before the majority of maps are changed?

That was an exception. Barda was rushed to meet russian clan wars schedule.

Other maps will be changed in single update with all possible explanations.

^ So Madness is changed again from the last test server version? (A week or two ago) It looks a bit different if its anything like I last remembered... though I think most of the complaints about Madness are due to the gravity not being as it was ages ago... I think many people want it to have little to no gravity enabled. A more extreme 'moon silence.' I never played Madness back in the day though, I just saw videos of it from youtube.

 

So it looks like the floor detailing was changed a bit..? This would actually be cool if the floor tiles meant something... the cracked ones would literally break and crack from under you.. falling to the ground below and disappearing like a corpse... the brown tiles would slow you down like thick mud, decreasing your hulls speed by 50%... lava tiles would deal damage to you... nitro tiles with arrows on them would give you a quick turbo boost adding +50% move speed for as long as you're on the speed tiles (they would be lined up, like 3-6 tiles in a row - which could be used strategically for hopping on just before a railgun is charging up his shot to shoot at you.. and you dodge it by zipping away!)

 

Please do something like this in the future. ^

This, would be cool! Maybe a bit too complicating and frustrating for little noobs? I mean, not every floor tile should be like this, but it would certainly be cool! My idea would be that normal floor tiles would take up 80% of the lowest floor. But only the lowest floor would the 20% special one's exist. That, and the spots would chance every time a new battle happens. So, every round/battle the floor tiles would chance so that 20% of the unusual floor tiles would be scattered all throughout the map.

sweet ... it has changed a lot i must say ,, and the little bump on the floor, and the grass ... interesting.

 interesting drop and spawn points as well ... question, will there be a CP version of it as well ?? cause i don't see any CP point on the graphic.  can't say we see the flag points either ..  will it be possible to get a view of it from another side please ?  thanks

 

oh and, those pillars are quite a nice addition as well .. hats off guys :)

CP would be really fun, since its a very open map... even while standing on a control point, you would be able to shoot people at other control points with ease... making for very interesting gameplay I think.

 

I recommend CP mode. 4-6 control points would work best... and a 14v14 game size.

I agree, although 14 X 2 = 28,, a bit too much for this map I would say.  As you said yourself the map is very open, so imagine spawning and immediately seeing 20 + other tanks , who can also see you spawn.  kaboom !!!!

you can't really compare madness with monte carlo,, this would just be utter madness :p

 

more seriously, despite what one may think, its not as big as that.  Back in the time already with 20 tanks on the field, it already did feel crowded enough, sometimes a little too much, specially when all 20 were actually playing and not camping for gold.  Adding an extra 8 tanks on the field will really be suffocating IMO,, but lets see what devs think about it.  May be they won't see it like I do.

 

 

 

ps:  yes there were times when the map was actually played for flags and not misused by a team of gold diggers, and a team of flag cappers,, although I reckon over 90% of the time it was just not about a fair match. 

confession:  i was always on the gold diggers team sitting, waiting and chatting with others like me on the rooftop of madness :P

Amazing !

Great! They said that they needed time to rework Madness, and they had reasons to take this much!

New props are amazing and how the map is structured looks really playable and fun.
